I’m not half-Japanese but I lived there for 5 years (4 years of school and 1 year of work). Sushi is my favorite food but I would never taint its image by trying to make it myself… I let Mr. Ota do that (I have a standing reservation in front of Sushi Ota’s Mr. Ota every month). BTW, good sushi chefs are well-trained to detect potential parasites in raw fish, so it’s better to let them pick it. Mr. Ota isn’t the most traditional sushi chef but he’s a true master and has an incredible sense of what goes well together (things I would never think of).
I can prepare the simpler Japanese dishes: oyako-don and other donburi style dishes, tempura, zaru soba, etc. basic survival skills. My culinary taste is 100% Japanese.
I’m not making any accusations but it has crossed my mind that maybe you’re being nice to me because Condogrrl is also being nice to me… π Am I a pawn? If not then maybe I really am way too jaded!

December 11, 2007 at 5:42 PM #114515AnonymousGuestOf course you’re a pawn. I’m the spider and you’re the fly…;)
Dude, I’m nice to everybody. Haven’t you noticed? Anyway, I love donburi (beef) haven’t tired chicken as I don’t eat much chicken (not crazy about the taste and texture). I love beef tempura, but I do eat chicken tempura as long as it’s boneless breast meat.
My favorite is the shabu-shabu. I like the sweet dipping sauce as opposed to the dipping sauce made with mayonnaise.
In regards to my topic, judging from some posts, I’m now wondering if chivalry is dead…;)
P.S. Nost, I meant beef “teriyaki”. I also love shrimp and vegetable tempura as I love seafood in general(with sweet dipping sauce).

Who said I was bragging about being in a relationship? I wasn’t – was just stating a fact. I did so because I anticipated you would accuse me of being jealous of you or unable to get a date, like you previously did with condogrll when she had the audacity to criticize you and disagree w/your approach. Not exactly what I would call a progressive approach!
and, BTW, it was CBad who called you an attention whore – not condogrll.
Funny how you don’t even address the men who have “critiqued” your ways…
