. . . I think the last number is most telling…Mission hills is not full of a bunch of retirees, at least not in comparison to the Minneapolis neighborhood. Its irresponsibility is systemic.
I beg to differ, jstoesz. MH IS full of retirees, many with small mortgages. 30% of a $3500 monthly retirement income is $1050 per month. If this is PITI, remember Prop 13?? I would surmise that many MH homes are close to being paid off by now, if not already paid off.
The numbers I listed to not show that there are more people with paid off homes in the MH tract than the Minneapolis tract. Maybe there are more retirees with paid off homes there, but I doubt it. If there were, there would be a fewer percentage of households putting more than 30% towards housing costs. It is just the numbers…

December 20, 2010 at 11:33 PM #642961jstoeszParticipant

Haha, I am sorry for the warrantless smear. Good, get after it. Because it is nuking out there. You better be heading for baldy at least. Mammoth should have a storm total better measured in building stories than feet.
I’m holding out to go with a group to Heavenly in early 2011 :=D
Coming up to my new stomping grounds I see! interesting, I wonder how that plays into the calculations! I am just kidding.
South Tahoe became my one of my top retirement spots earlier in the year when I had to give up on (expensive) CO. I have to check on it at least once a year to make sure everything’s still in its rightful place :=] Do you realize Heavenly has made several improvements to their lifts/snowmaking equipment during summer 2010??
What is snowmaking? It is all about the backcountry, unless of course the avalanche danger is so high, you have to be high to go out and then I will settle for sierra at tahoe for the tree runs and easy accessibility off the 50. I skied Mt. Ralston (mountain across from sierra) last thursday after work, moonlight is a beautiful thing!

If I were looking for a cheap CA retirement home, I would look for something off the 108. It doesn’t have all the drunken hubub, its way cheaper, and sonora is not far away.
