Wow, that name sounded familiar. He’s the guy who wrote Ender’s Game (and all those other books). My little girl and I read those not too long ago. He’s a centrist Democrat with many nuanced views: pro-gun control, anti-Bush, religious Mormon, anti-abortion, anti gay marriage, anti-racism. I think it’s good to expose some of the problems with both sides of the political aisle.
What one shouldn’t do is to automatically give more weight to an opinion because it is critical of one’s own party. Maybe people do that because Republicans almost never break from party ranks so a Democrat critical of his own party must be right. Democrats have been a bickering infighting bunch for a very long time so don’t be surprised by this article. “Familiarity breeds contempt” — M. Twain.
In any case, it’s an interesting view point with some valid opinions.
