Navy Doc. Have your driven past Malibu to Leo Carrillo state park? It is going to take about an hour from LA.The drive is interesting.Once you get to Leo Carrillo You can start off on the beach, go for a hike for hours through the canyon and foothills (if you want to) then go back down to the beach. I like weekdays after school is back in for this. I think if Torrey Pines is your speed this will do the trick. Another easy day out is the Getty museum. It is up on a hill near Santa Monica. You can go to the museums and then spend some time in the gardens which have vast views of the Pacific.
I don’t know L.A. too well even though I grew up in the next county north. I know when I travel and meet people or have foriegn guests they always hold the opinion L.A. is a world class city.
