Going back to the points in the article linked in the OP. I’ve worked in “open office” environments, and in environments where there is some privacy for individual workers – even if it’s just 5′ cube walls.
I much prefer the privacy environment.
If you want to collaborate – get a conference room or hang out on the comfy furniture in the lobby… But when I have a deadline, I don’t need chit-chat, I need to be able to concentrate.
