Here’s a fairly recent gallup poll concerning various gun related questions. This one was done shortly after Sandy Hook (Jan 2013 and Apr 2013).

From the poll it would appear the democratic majority feels that guns shouldn’t be banned at about a 2 to 1 majority (I.e. 70% to 30%). It also seems to indicate a slight majority for some enhanced gun control, but support for more gun control has been eroding over the past 20 years.
