They are growing. IT’s the hub of the metro area up there. That’s why the BART goes out past Richmond. SF doesn’t exist in a bubble, nor does San Mateo, the people there make a large amount of money off the people living in those cursed CFDs.
NYC is also rebuilding continuously, and growing and it’s burbs are continuous pushing out. It’s greater metro area grew 15% in the last decade. NYC itself, grew 15% from 1990-2000. Then it slowed when it hit 8 mil.
IT doesn’t need to be sprawl. But it does need growth and revitalization. A lot of that revitalization comes from population growth and reinventing.
