I never expected such an anti-SD vibe here. I think the lack of character filled quality safe neighborhoods with good schools is really the problem. California has them but they tend to be way outside the price range of the average middle-class person Or even upper-middle-class for that matter. I know San Luis Obispo has such neighborhoods and they’re not quite so outrageously expensive but it seems for California to live the way it should you have to live in a small town. At the end of the day it really comes down to how much you value consistently it good weather. I personally prefer seasons and dramatic weather events, I find it quite interesting. It makes you go out on the days that are perfect sunny 70° and make sure you enjoy the fullness of it, Without taking it for granted. But I can understand why others may not be so sanguine about the weather.
