While I agree that living on the dole is lame, and I also don’t generally agree with Newt O’San Diego, I think he has a point that poor lending and diligence practices have created a lot of free money and local level.
If I knew I was going to lose my house, I would stop paying immediately or, if it were more remunerative, move out and rent it out.
Honestly, that is not a winning strategy for me now (I make good money, and like my home), I would be irresponsible as a parent (or foolish as a non-parent) to do the bank’s job for them.
While I think he overstates it and is generally crass about it, he has a point.
