I am 27 and my husband and I make about 130k per year. My single girlfriends make on average about 65-70k, one that is a teacher less but a few more make over 100k. They have all been saving as well since they got their jobs. Maybe it is since we went to UCSD we skewed it upwards, but most of my friends live realtiverly frugally and still are able to save to buy a place when the market is right for them.

After paying off our car loan in a few months we will be saving 2500 per month.

I also know people who I work with that do not save very much at all.

With help from in-laws we should be able to put down 20% on a place.

I am an attorney and husband is a teacher fyi (not engineers)
