YAY and GOOD RIDDANCE!
Screw Uber — let’s go back to private taxis that accept good ‘ol ANONYMOUS cash and don’t tie rides to an identity and social credit rating. Bye, Felicia!
Also, this is just an excuse for Goober to downsize — they’re firing management left and right and bleeding VC cash … looks like the casino is calling in its bets. Pets.com, here we come!
September 14, 2019 at 3:55 PM #813557CoronitaParticipantI dont have problems one way or the other since the last thing I would be doing is driving a car for money… But, I am waiting for CA to pass more laws that end up restricting contract workers , particularly contract IT workers. That would be funny. Even more of a reason to move into management then remain hands on…. Ship the jobs elsewhere.
September 14, 2019 at 4:40 PM #813558FlyerInHiGuestWhatever happened to “love it or leave it” or “careful, don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out”?

It’s already done. The media is focusing on rideshares, but the bill bans all contract work unless it’s “outside the course of the hiring entity’s business”. Seems like a lot of tech contractors are in the crosshairs, since they often are in the same business as their hiring entity (eg programming).
I think reasonable people could have a good debate about whether Uber drivers in particular should be contractors or not. But to basically outlaw a huge swath of the contract job market seems like lunacy to me.

yup… I was reading the fine print. the uproar was over just Uber and Lyft. But the way it was worded applied to all contract work.
Like I said. It’s a total fvcktard decision. This isn’t going to force company is to have more “employees”. It’s just going to move work out…

That still applies to Progressive fvcktards that don’t really do anything. California in the near term is going to get really fvcked up
That’s good because all this will eventually shake out and those that caused this mess or were part of this mess will get kicked out and or leave . And we will have a huge backlash against progressive fvcktard economic policies, similar to what happened with Arnold and more recently what happened at the national level…It’s already working. The slightly smarter progressive fvcktards are already moving to places like nevada where they can continue their doublespeak while avoiding all the progressive fvcktard economic policies that would hurt them too. I’m briefly talking to one of them ha ha ha.
September 14, 2019 at 9:05 PM #813563CoronitaParticipantSee what the average person doesn’t understand is the fvcktard Progressives are totally capitalizing on Fvxkface Trump to turn the Party of D in California into an extremely Fvcktard party going the other way. They are using it as an excuse to push the the most fvcked up economic policy imagineable. Trump is just a convenient excuse to win votes to pass the “real” agenda…. And we are seeing it right now in California where a lot of fvcktard Progressives are cramming their fvcktard policies through a super majority state senator and assembly. This will last until the economic system in CA completely melts down… And it will come…And then being associated with this fvxktard mess will be as toxic as being remotely associated with Trump. A lot of people are going to be severely fvcked by these fvcktard Progressives who are morons. They will most likely be the struggling middle class and below, who will have even more difficult time…. It certainly won’t be me or many of us for that matter….
My company has recently opened an office in Mexico City. Lots of skilled tech workers. Guess where the contract IT work will be going in CA? But hey, People hate Trump so much, they don’t want any tariffs or job/economic protections.. lol…
September 14, 2019 at 10:27 PM #813564FlyerInHiGuestWhen will the meltdown happen in CA?
So according to you it’s always liberals’ fault. Before, you said that Trump is a product of liberal extremism. Now liberals are using Trump to be more extremist which will re-elect Trump and which will cause economic meltdown in California. So please help us get rid of Trump.
September 14, 2019 at 11:06 PM #813565temeculaguyParticipantIt’s all about the unions, the gig workers do not pay dues, which means they are not compelled to give money to the democratic party. Even the well paid and the highly paid gig workers are not paying dues. The supreme court Janus case cut off the unions (and the D’s) guaranteed income so this is just a way to supplement that loss. Teachers and government workers are now not forced to join the unions or pay dues. Many of them are just now opting out as the unions because Cali made laws that that only allow quitting one week a year.
Here’s why the gig economy law wil backfire. It is an assault on tech and California tech has been an ally of the D’s. Rideshare, carshare, air bnb and VRBO are used by progressives and the young more than conservatives and the old. It’s as if they outlawed vegans, whole foods, hybrids, you name it, the touched the third rail in self defense. Janus fundamentally will destroy the D’s in California and elsewhere, now that their primary funding source is declining, the cannabalism has begun.
September 15, 2019 at 2:07 AM #813567outtamojoParticipantGood riddance to uber and and other crap companies whose business model is to take advantage of those unable to figure hidden costs.
Just cause you are an employee rather than an independent contractor doesn’t mean you cannot have flexible hours- that is decided by management, not by law.
Yes it’s more work/ requires more creativity dealing with employees/ Unions
but companies that will have a hard time have stupid management who well, dont deserve to be management.September 15, 2019 at 8:53 AM #813568spdrunParticipantThe solution is to reduce the barriers/costs of hiring by socializing things like healthcare and unemployment insurance. If companies paid a known % tax rate per employee and the state took care of things like insurance, then a lot of paperwork and red tape for hiring would go away.
September 15, 2019 at 7:04 PM #813569CoronitaParticipantHmm. socializing unemployment insurance…. hmm I’m going to be an independent contractor.. Let me work for two weeks… Oops I can’t find a job the next four weeks. Time to collect my unemployment check….That will work real well… Oh kind of like how well it works… in France……

In the Sante Fe district of DF? It’s pretty nice and modern down there.
There is a Korean dude who lives in a highrise and runs a YouTube channel called koreano vlogs. Helps me learn Spanish.September 16, 2019 at 9:46 AM #813573barnaby33ParticipantSee what the average person doesn’t understand is the fvcktard Progressives are totally capitalizing on Fvxkface Trump to turn the Party of D in California into an extremely Fvcktard party going the other way
I’m not that into this new FLU. The old FLU saw 5 sides to every argument but was mostly non-committal. He was however mostly polite. The new FLU seems to be energized in a very partisan way.
Unions suck, so do lack of regulations. In this case the cure may be worse than the disease, but it’s a response to a disease. (See that’s classic FLU.)
