What do you guys thing long term for this area of San Diego???
I read an interesting article a few years back which would give me concern about Bay Park. The southern end of Bay Park (just east of Sea World Drive and extending north) has had a significantly higher percentage than normal of residents who developed leukemia/cancer. From what I recall, the landfill located on what is now the south end of Mission Bay Park (parallel to the river) was used as a dump for toxic chemicals many decades ago and apparently the toxicity got into the soil and water below the ground. In fact, that very same area still is vacant today – makes you wonder why the city/county has yet to build on the property considering its prime location.

June 3, 2009 at 9:53 PM #410848GoUSCParticipantScripps Ranch was poo-poo’d for a couple reasons…
1. Girlfriend (now fiancee) was concerned about the fire risk. Concerned was actually a very light term. She was/is VERY concerned about it.
2. We decided that we would not be happy living so far from the beach. I grew up in La Jolla, lived in Pacific Beach 9 years after that, currently live in Bay Ho. Going any further east is really not a option we decided.
