WSJ.com is full of news about huge drop in 30-year mortgage rates.

“The intervention, the latest in a series of unprecedented government actions, immediately pushed down rates on 30-year mortgages by as much as one-half percentage point.”

Can anyone confirm? What is the lowest 30-year fixed rate can someone with good credit/money get now? (no-points ~USD3000 closing costs.)

Is this mother of all refi’s happening? Could this could stop housing freefall? I always thought feds could pull a stunt like this, that’s why I thought housing wouldn’t crash.

We all kew that feds would try to reflate to boost the economy. Why the heck didnt they do this sooner??
