In sum, according to the plan Paulson can purchase up to 700 billion of mortgage securities. Notably, Paulson’s decision is NOT reviewable by a court of law, so in essence he alone has the authority to blow 700 billion of taxpayer money to buy toxic waste mortgages on his decision alone, without review.
Incredible, at least we should have a debate on whether this is really necessary and why the h..l none of the perps of these financial schemes are being forced to give up their ill-gotten gains and be held accountable.
