Seems to me that the first dozen dates are supposed to be about getting to know each other, which can be done sitting on a park bench, taking a walk or having coffee. If you are defining the success of the dates by how often or how deeply he digs into his wallet, you are most definitely a gold digger.
Any woman that tells me that I have to spend money on her to show her that I care is being shown the door. How about I bring you breakfast in bed? Hide silly greeting cards in your purse to surprise you? Care for you when you are sick? Seems that those types of behaviors are more of a display of love and romance than buying you an expensive dinner.
Most of the things that REALLY matter and show you care in a relationship are free or inexpensive.
