October 22, 2007 at 6:42 PM #90739CMcGParticipantI hope the asshats posting above me are engaging in a little of what’s known as “black humor” to assuage their stress. Otherwise, I can’t believe they’d be making fun of this situation. Are you guys new to San Diego County? These fires are one of the risks you take in living in Southern California. I have been through a dozen of these, and they are NOT funny. Half of the staff at the company I work for could not come in today because they were RENTERS being evacuated from such lofty communities as Lakeside and Rancho Penasquitos. You think these people don’t have kids, pets, important papers, photo albums? Make fun of people for signing the papers for stupid loans, not for a natural catastrophe.

October 22, 2007 at 7:05 PM #90751kewpParticipantI’m dead serious.
If some of the fires *were* arson, I suspect they might have been set by financially strung out builders and speculators to cover individual acts of arson.
I’m not saying thats what happened, but speculating on a possible motive if some of the fires were deliberately set.
Stuff like this used to happen in my previous area (New Jersey) not infrequently.
Edit: I didn’t read the opening two posts as being ‘funny’ at all.
