I hate fireplaces. Pretty I hate fireplaces. Pretty useless, IMO. Give me a bay window and a balcony/patio instead.
But it’s a cheap marketing device to give the home a warm, homey feel.

I’ve inherited a fireplace I’ve inherited a fireplace from the previous owner, but I’m not fond of the idea of having a fire in a small enclosure surrounded by wood studs and drywall (i.e. cardboard) on all sides. I keep it closed and blocked off.

We haven’t done one in a long We haven’t done one in a long time – it’s been a warm winter. I think we did a few in early December.
Ours is old-school wood burning. So when we chop down a tree – we stack the wood and the next year it’s good to burn.

No! We were being exclusionary specifically towards you. Nobody wants to hear your wood burning stories!
We wanted to burn wood this year but never got around to it. We had to many things hanging from the mantle in December too do it so I think our opportunity has passed.

Burned a couple duraflames Burned a couple duraflames last year in the fireplace but its so small and had a gas line in it that I decided to find a burner and some fireglass to install. Found two 5 gallon buckets of fireglass on craigslist for installed a burner myself. Wifey uses it a lot, I have used it once during a xmas party.

Last month I used my fireplace to burn a lot of confidential paper that I didn’t get to shred. I’m concerned abour privacy and identity theft, but I’m also concerned about health, particulate matter (PM), and fireplace-related pollution inside the house.

When it is chilly (not too When it is chilly (not too often), we do like a wood burning fp. I should suck it up and buy a better quality cord of wood. Probably last 2 or 3 years. Went thru a half C this fall. My long hair chihuahua, Marty, loves to lay in front of it.

Wife and I both profess to Wife and I both profess to love them. Can’t think of building a house without them. Have two in our current house. Probably been at least two years since either was used.
