I’m a real car guy, but I I’m a real car guy, but I can’t understand why someone would voluntarily pay a yearly fee to have the letters on their license plate arranged in a particular way.
If there is something you just have to tell passers-by, well that why mother nature invented bumper stickers and license plate frames. And you only pay once.

Because if you have “TI 3VOM”, it looks so cool when you’re behind someone and they are looking at you from the rear mirror.

Agree with the bumper Agree with the bumper stickers over plates except that a true minimalist wouldn’t have either….or the bumper sticker would be so tiny that no one would see it.

Exactly how many times have you read someone’s plate using your rear-view mirror?
I can tell you how many times I have – zero!

Many years ago I was having a Many years ago I was having a few beers and having just bought a new car I was carousing the DMV vanity plate site and I picked one that I thought was cool. Thing is, nobody could understand it. Didn’t matter to me, because I knew what it meant. So many years later, I’m looking at my registration, as it starts to go through the roof, and I think to myself “why am I paying a voluntary tax each and every year when I’m pissed off that my taxes are going up”. So I decide to cancel my vanity plate. Thing is it is way easier to get a vanity plate than to get rid of one. Had to go to DMV in person to turn in the plates, half a day wasted there! So after that little lesson, doubt I’ll ever get one again.
