Pretty simple. Click on the poster’s handle, and you can see the history, and other’s quote. Actually, the reason why I ended up taking all three of my handles is because once you change handles, someone else can take it. I certainly won’t do any more polls because we now know that polls in no way accurately reflect the opinions of Piggington members.
We now know that there is at least one politically conservative member of this board who’s not above logging in using several user-names to post simultaneously.
Too bad the poll feature of this site has now been rendered completely useless.
The primary elections are coming and I thought it’d be interesting to see if Piggington could pick the next Republican candidate for Governor. Too bad, we won’t get a chance to do that.

This shows how woefully uninformed you are and how tenaciously you cling to your liberal stereotypes.
I’m a conservative with a graduate degree and a fairly high income. I recycle, I compost and I give to charity. I pretty much invalidate every stereotype you have about conservatives and tea party supporters yet here I am.

1) Brian, I consider myself more of american enginerd, than chinese.
2) A good percentage of ethnically chinese in america ARE republicans because they are conservative in thinking. Hell, Nancy Reagan paid one of my high school friends’ parents at home to thank personally thank them for all the fund raising for Ronald.
3) If there’s any lesson to be learned recently is the color of green knows no discrimination. Give me an immigrant investor who brings in know jobs and an honest day’s of work to a community, I can say suddenly a lot of the problems go away, and probably can effect more change than any public policy designed to make folks more “racially sensitive”.
Why do you think there is a backlash against some of the minorities while not of others? Why do you think there is a backlash against illegal immigrants? It boils down to availability of resources/opportunities (or perceived availability)…

Ugh, yeah I know it’s Korean. I think you’re missing the point. Economics still talks. People get all hissy/fitty when they don’t have them. When people’s economics are not in question, a lot of the social problems go away. It’s about competing for the same resources.
And regarding staying to fight…Yeah, maybe IF I wasn’t going to be thrown in the a concentration camp…But likelihood of an all out war with China…No way man, I never claimed to be *that* patriotic. Family first, always. And so an all out war, the best thing to do would go to a neutral place. When did I ever say I was that patriotic? I think you mistook be someone else who you think claimed to have high ideologies. I don’t. I’m pretty practical, and if you make the arguments about ethics/morality/etc, sure go ahead.. AN, I don’t hold the stereotypes of Asians as lifetime holders of real estate.
In fact, it was you and flu who argued that Asians do hold property forever. Your argument was that it doesn’t really matter if you overpay because time will take care of that. Are you now backpedaling?

Is that because the U.S. Is that because the U.S. stole the property from Japanese Americans during WW II? Where did you get that fact from? Let me guess. Brian, that sounds real close to being a racist remark. Most of the Republicans could not say anything like that or you would be all over them. Your liberalism is amazingly selective and I think you are jealous of anyone who owns something because you do not. You really need to start proving your harebrained arguments. You are a closet racist, IMO.
Here is some info for you from Wiki:
“The Chinese Exclusion Act was repealed by the 1943 Magnuson Act, which permitted Chinese nationals already residing in the country to become naturalized citizens. It also allowed a national quota of 105 Chinese immigrants per year, although large scale Chinese immigration did not occur until the passage of the Immigration Act of 1965. Despite the fact that the exclusion act was repealed in 1943, the law in California that Chinese people were not allowed to marry whites was not repealed until 1948.[17][18]”
“Even today, although all its constituent sections have long been repealed, Chapter 7 of Title 8 of the United States Code is headed, “Exclusion of Chinese.”[19] It is the only chapter of the 15 chapters in Title 8 (Aliens and Nationality) that is completely focused on a specific nationality or ethnic group.”

It is not that there are no “liberals” on this site. It is simply that often you sound more like a talking head for the “liberals.” No different than the talking heads from the “conservatives.”
Oftentimes, you make sweeping generalizations, whether it be about race, women, politics, social issues, etc. rather than looking at the whole picture.
My suspicion is that your identity is rooted in being a “liberal” and any challenges against that are too great for you to integrate, which would cause internal conflict about your belief system. Thus, you stick with a “holier than thou” approach which puts off others, and keeps you at a lower level of critical thought.

“In 1978, a joint congressional resolution established Asian/Pacific American Heritage Week. The first 10 days of May were chosen to coincide with two important anniversaries: the arrival in the United States of the first Japanese immigrants (May 7, 1843) and the completion of the transcontinental railroad (May 10, 1869).”
“In 1992, Congress expanded the 10-day observance to a month-long celebration. Per a 1997 Office of Management and Budget directive, the Asian or Pacific islander racial category was separated into two different categories: ‘Asian’ and ‘native Hawaiian or other Pacific islander.'”

The percentage of Asians, age 25 and over, who have an advanced degree (e.g., master’s, Ph.D., M.D. or J.D.). The corresponding rate for all adults in the age group is 9 percent.
I believe the education stats are telling and they explain why Asians are so successful. They are willing to study hard and work hard and to me, they exemplify the American success story.
Using the National Study of
Using the National Study of College Experience (NSCE) — a collection of information from eight anonymous elite colleges — authors Thomas J. Espenshade and Alexandria Walton Radford are able to calculate various applicants’ odds of getting into a school. They discover some mildly interesting trends regarding social class (more on that later), but their results for race are truly stunning. After academic performance and demographic factors have been taken into account, black applicants are more than five times as likely as whites to be accepted at NSCE private schools, and 220 times as likely to be accepted at NSCE public schools. Asian applicants, meanwhile, are only about a third as likely as whites to get big envelopes from private institutions, and one-fifth as likely to gain admission to public ones.
Putting preferences in terms of test scores, at private schools, blacks get an advantage, compared to whites, worth 310 SAT points (out of 1600), Hispanics an advantage of 130, and Asians a disadvantage of 140. At public schools, the authors present the difference in ACT points: blacks 3.8 (out of 36), Hispanics 0.3, Asians –3.4.

Thus, you stick with a “holier than thou” approach which puts off others, and keeps you at a lower level of critical thought.[/quote]

It’s not the money made while IN office – it’s the money that can be made once you leave office… Lobbying, influence peddling, etc… Not to mention the high paying, relatively low hour gigs – being paid to be on the BOD for various corporations.
Ex: Pete Wilson (Meg’s campaign chairman). BOD for NIC (I.T. provider for the state), BOD for U.S. HealthWorks… Plus he’s been on the board for TelePacific, Crossflow Systems, IDT Entertainment… Probably some more, but those are the ones I could garner through forbes, wikipedia, the google…
Most ex-politicians make a lot more money AFTER they leave office than they ever did while in office.

Ugh, yeah I know it’s Korean. I think you’re missing the point. Economics still talks. People get all hissy/fitty when they don’t have them. When people’s economics are not in question, a lot of the social problems go away. It’s about competing for the same resources.

In fact, I never claimed that Asians are anymore or less likely to pass on their houses. However, I know from observation, that they are buyers. Like I said, about the passing-on part, time will tell.

Fair enough, so when you say they, you mean those who came w/in 50 years ago, not they as in Asians.

Another bad assumption.

Sorry but Aecetia does not represent all conservatives. Saying Aecetia jump the gun is very different than saying Conservatives jump the gun.

Time won’t tell you anything more than what you can see today. Asians, just like Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, etc. don’t fit into a neat little box for you to stereotype. There will be FB Asian just like FB of other races.

That was exactly my point when I took up flu’s challenge to post examples of FB Asian homeowners.
flu’s contention was that there wouldn’t be any names that rhyme with certain sounds.
BTW, I was responding to Aecetia’s post when I make the comment about jumping to gun.

Not only are you are racist, you’re a whiner. There are plenty of liberal blogs where the posters will agree with you. What did you expect when you come on a real estate blog where most of the people pay taxes and work for a living?
Did you read those Wiki posts?. Asians helped build this country. They did not just arrive here to get on the gravy train. In fact, how long has your family been in this country. Have they been here long enough to pass their home on to you or are you an FB?
I did not jump the gun, you just can’t handle the truth.

Happy Asian/Pacific American
Happy Asian/Pacific American Heritage Week
Education
50%
The percentage of Asians, age 25 and over, who have a bachelor’s degree or higher level of education. Asians have the highest proportion of college graduates of any race or ethnic group in the country. The corresponding rate for all adults in this age group is 27 percent.
88%
The percentage of Asians, age 25 and over, who are high school graduates. The corresponding rate for all adults in this age group is 85 percent.
19%

The book – “No longer separate, not yet equal” has further data.

Poizner :
Piggington poll:
Poizner : 61%
Whitman : 29%
Vote outcome:
Whitman : 64%
Poizner 27%
So, I guess we got it almost precisely the opposite of the election. As expected the Piggington community marches to the beat of a different drummer.
