Like I said in my post Like I said in my post yesterday, for me it’s 14.5 miles one way, all but about 2 of it freeway. I live near a trolley station, and wish I could use that (ONLY during the day, however). But it’s quite a hike from the nearest trolley station to my office, and I can’t lug all of the crap I need to transport back and forth that far. There are two other employees who live near me, but (we have flex time) they don’t want to leave home before 6:30 a.m., like I do.

There’s no category for <1 There’s no category for <1 mile. Therefore, I am not voting.
I walk or ride my bike to work. It's 0.62 miles from my house. For my wife, slightly less than that.
EDIT: High fives davelj.

“varies” wasn’t an option, it “varies” wasn’t an option, it could be a mile, could be 60, I’ll find out when I’m ready to leave, not every job is in a single, fixed office location.

Add another to the < 1 mile Add another to the < 1 mile category. My commute is now down to 3 blocks (or ~5-6 minutes depending on the one possible stop light).

Buses on Shoulder Service Buses on Shoulder Service (BOSS), coming to a hwy near you in Sept 2009. If you haven’t heard, SANDAG is planning a project called BOSS. It will operate in the median shoulder of the hwy (no greater than 15mph than the speed of traffic, but no faster than 35mph). The first leg will run from Eastern Chula Vista to (both) UTC and Sorrento Valley.
