Snow storm

Here is a picture in April of the only road to get to our house. The winter up here was brutal. No way I would ever live full time up in the mountains, we froze our butts off this year. The house we rented, 3500 sq. ft., is to big to heat properly, we went though 2 chords of wood and two fills on the propane tank ($300) to keep the temp in house above 50. During one storm so many tree branches broke off it looked like a tornado went through. We lost power for 4 full days, I ended up just putting everything that was in the refer. out on the porch in the snow. I destoyed a pair of tire chains with all the use this winter. Anybody thinking they could live off the grid in severe weather is kidding themselves, and this is California, not Wisconsin.
