All normal things get much harder. Elliptical trainers won’t really help u in you’re actual daily movements which are much more complex.

Well, I didn’t mention the rest of my workout routine:
Trip over carpet seams. Happens more often as I get older. Which helps.
Get up after tripping over carpet seam. Kinda like push ups, only necessary.
Say, “Nuts!” with a quick little sideways fist movement every time the Cubs give up a run or lose or otherwise do something Cubbish. Keeps me in shape all summer.
Yell at kids to get off my lawn. Good for the lungs. Projected to be a staple in future decades.
Repeat various actions I just did because I forgot I just did them.
Reach to top shelf of pantry for metamucil. Gives me some exercise now, and some later.

Lust after women in my heart. One of my favorites, and it worked for Jimmy Carter; he’s almost 90.
Go on and on with lame jokes just for the exercise that I get from typing them.
Etc.

Participant40 minute workout on the elliptical every other day. Very intense interval training. Pros: It’s very easy on the joints, which is good because I’m 50 and I tore my ACL a few decades ago (recent research indicates that running may not be bad for your knees, unless they’re unstable – as they would be if you’ve torn your ACL). It’s great for cardio (although when I first got it I my muscles tired before I could get my heart rate to maximum). It works a lot of muscles. It increases your muscle mass, especially in the hips/glutes/thighs, and also in the arms, shoulders and torso. And of course this lean mass burns calories. I highly recommend it to any middle aged or better who want a good work out without much joint stress. Cons: you’re inside and you stay in one place. I’ve got my DVR and HDTV right there, so it’s not too bad. I lost 15 pounds and have kept it off for 5 years without any real change in diet.

Participant
The stories my sister tells me about the playground politics of her daughters and it is astounding. Boyfriend girlfriend politics (all very innocent at her age), profiling, social stimatizing… Its all very shocking. I told my sister to get the kids out of there and she said “Why? It’s that way everywhere now.”

Now? it’s always been that way, everywhere. You can get caught up in it and make it the center of your child’s life. Or she can hang with the nice kids. They’re there.

Just tell her to ignore the brats, go find the nice kids and play with them. It isn’t that difficult, really. As for yourself, FLU – do the same with the parents. Don’t focus on all the Carmel Valley social posturing. Just find some nice people and conect with them. I guarantee you they are there.
Amen, brother. That’s exactly how we’ve played it since we’ve been here in CV. We’ve enjoyed every minute of it and our daughter gets along just fine. It’s all good.
