ParticipantIt’s very hard to say.
Virtually everybody, when they recount an incident, tell their side of the story. That’s not to cast aspersions on your son’s honesty, that’s just the way people are.
If your son’s story exactly matches the truth, he seems fine to me.
In some cases, you really don’t want/need to seek out the other side of the story. This seems to me like one of those times. Mainly because it would escalate what should maybe just be let go. But I only know what I read in your post, so I don’t really know.

ParticipantI’m not going to nag about brushing, but I am going to very strongly suggest an electric toothbrush, if you’re not already using one. Plaque removal is essential to healthy gums, and an electric toothbrush does more to remove plaque than a manual one.
I’m not sure why dentists aren’t more vigorous in their recommendation of electric toothbrushes. If you ask them, they’ll tell you, yes, they work better. But they don’t push them on you or tell you they definitely work a lot better or tell you you should definitely use one.
I had thought the sales points/commercials saying they remove a lot more plaque than regular toothbrushes was just advertising. Until I started using one. Despite regular brushing (with a manual toothrbrush) and flossing, I couldn’t get rid of build up behind my bottom front teeth. There’s kind of some nooks and crannies in there. After I got my teeth cleaned, it would build up in a matter of a week and continue to build up until my next cleaning despite at-least-twice-daily brushing and flossing. Since I’ve gotten an electric toothbrush, I can go the whole six months between cleanings with no noticeable build up.
And you can get one that has a sensor that will tell you if you’re brushing too hard.

Participantkcal09, you say that this was in a local blog. Do you think that everything in that post is true? Or do you at least think that the post is, in general, pretty much the truth? If not, why are you posting it?

ParticipantYou’ve been watching too much Fox “News.”
And unskeptically reading too many RWNJ facebook posts.
And listening to too much Rush Limbaugh.Etc.

A blue velvet bedspread sounds so sensual. This may have been an early sexusl desire. Your mother’s interference with it must have been very frustrating. That pain you felt…the thwarting of desire and longing. How that velvet would have felt. You will never know. Transcendent pleasure was so close.
I think I want a blue velvet bedspread now. Of the highest possible quality. Unless it’s really expensive. Then I’ll go for the shag.
Comic genius.

Geez, Brian. I defend you and then you throw this out there? Come on, man.

Today, conservatives are trash-talkers, enraged, revolutionary pitchfork peasants with no manners, contemptuous of education and reason. They talk traditional marriage but very few have well-adjusted, wholesome relationships.
Huh.
Then judging by you, todays progressives are pathetic, self-loathing homosexuals, who lie about who they are, where they live, so they can continue to troll on a website where they have been banned for posting the bullshit you just posted. Am I right?
I don’t know if Brian is a homosexual. I don’t care if he’s a homosexual. Do you? Do you have a problem with homosexuals?

PCinSD, you have to read what I said in the context of the Brooks op-ed which I commented on.
I did. But this is just more of the same from you. You’re just trying to be more stealthy about it. You weren’t quoting the op-ed. You are simply parroting the same bullshit you always have.
I disagree. He was banned for threadjacking. His comments in this thread are in line with the thread. He might not have been “quoting” the op-ed, but he did paraphrase it, and he was commenting on/expounding on/giving his opinion on it. Not changing the subject or jacking the thread.

I have learned that you really want to avoid surgery unless it’s a life threatening thing. Surgery can lead to a whole set of unexpected and unpredictable issues.

MRSA is another huge reason to avoid surgery if possible.

Actually newer studies are showing the opposite. Hard workouts are counterproductive, easy workouts are better for weight management.
Links, please.
Here’s a study that says steady-state walking or moderate jogging lead to negligible weight loss, while high intensity interval exercise is much more effective for reducing body fat:

That would be fascinating and wonderful.

The elliptical is nice for catching up on Netflix while you think you’re working out.
You’re doing it wrong.
Like any other exercise, it can be effective or not, depending on how you do it. I went from 21% body fat to 12% body fat over about a year, and have stayed there for 8 years, with no lifestyle changes other than exercising on the elliptical. I have more muscle and my resting heart rate went from 63 to 51.
It’s hard (or it was for me, anyway) to get your heart rate to your maximum heart rate at first, because the muscles you use aren’t built up enough. My muscles tired before I could get the aerobic/anaerobic exercise I wanted. After a couple months, that was no longer the case. I am able to train at maximum intensity (using intervals), and 37 minutes every other day is all I need to keep the weight off/muscle on/heart rate down.
And, as a bonus, no injuries in 9 years of doing the workout.

ParticipantYou’ll hear lots of sales pitches about reducing your waist. But you can’t target fat. Crunches/etc. will tighten your abs, but they won’t do anything about the fat. All you can do is diet/exercise to lose fat, and, like Brian said, the stuff around your waist is usually the last to come off (especially if you’re of the body type that gains belly fat first and loses it last).
For your exercise, I highly recommend an elliptical. Better yet, interval training on an elliptical. A recent study showed that interval training is best for weight loss. And the elliptical has two big advantages over running: 1. It’s very easy on your joints. 2. It builds muscle much more than running. And muscle mass burns a lot of calories, even at rest, contributing further to your weight loss.
Exercise is key. I’ve known dozens of people who have lost more than 30 or 40 pounds. But I’ve known very few who have kept that much off, and they all exercise vigorously.
Good luck!!

Participant

What about these high profile jerks flying around in private jets pointing their finger at you and your vw?
This reminds me of obamacare->the ptb’s force it on the peasants/commoners, but absolutely don’t want it for themselves.
Take off your leash….
What about those high profile jerks? What’s the question, exactly?
Which ptb’s are rejecting the obamacare requirement for health insurance and going uninsured? Or is there some other aspect of obamacare that they “don’t want for themselves?”
You’re the one wearing a leash. A leash made of misdirection and emotional manipulation and placed there by the right-wing noise machine. A leash made so that you can be led to the opinion that government is bad and that corporations (which fund the right-wing noise machine) are good and fair and being screwed by the government.
All I know is corporations don’t point guns at you, government does…
When you can’t even explain your own rants, that should be a sign to yourself that you’ve been emotionally manipulated.
Don’t fall for the right-wing noise machine’s bs. Don’t be so credulous when you’re watching/reading/listening.
