word.
Many of our relatives who have lived in the Bay Area for years can’t believe where people are willing to buy homes up there now.
It’s understandable that affordability is the driving factor, but if/when things slow down again, they might have some challenges getting rid of some of those outlier properties, and, in the meantime, I don’t think the lifestyle is really be what you might call optimum.
It’s just my opinion that life is too short not to live the life you want to live, where you want to live it. We’ve known quite a few people who have waited for “retirement,” and never made it to that point, or found their time was cut short later in life, so–to the OP–find something you like, and start enjoying it now.
yuhteyParticipant
I just saw a 2000sf condo. That would be fine for a family.
Why is a house a necessity if you have kids? I’m enjoying condo living and never want a house again.I wish they’d build more condos. Mid to high rises over 4 stories so they are solid concrete and steel. I think in Irvine and Carmel Valley, the Asians and tech workers would buy them up like hot cakes.
CV is fighting this but it WILL happen. even the new barns are so close together, it looks like a city of suburbs.

Has SD county just sprawled so far that Temecula no longer seems crazy?
to venture a guess – people do what they have to do. that car ride is repressed deep into the lobal cortal frontal err…
yuhteyParticipant
Why don’t you consider viewing this listing?
is that… el cajon? gee i’m not sure i’d fit in there, i don’t hang fake testicles from the back of my pickup. do you think they’d embrace me, even still?
yuhteyParticipant
I’ll bite.
fantastic, thank you!
yuhteyParticipant
It’s hard to say much without knowing much about your situation. Where will you be working from? Personally, I would really consider the impact of my commute if I were you.
Looks like you are only considering North County? What about Mission Hills, or Kensington, or North Park? Are you willing to go into an older neighborhood?
How important are schools? How many kids and what ages? How important is a yard? Would you trade being able to walk to stores for a smaller house?
yes – commute is important. i like to keep it to 20-30mins and 35-45 in heavy traffic or accident clog. let’s just say i work at REI near the 52.
so i lived up-town in banker’s for awhile and loved it. but that was when i was single or with girlfriend but no kids. after becoming a parent, people with man-buns make me angry and i don’t want to be near that many weirdos/hipsters. basically all the democrat voters now cause deep rage in my soul. so those older hipper places are kind of out.
schools are very important, but with the real-world expectation that they will actually suck because california is just awful in this regard. let’s just say i have 2 kids that are not yet in elementary yet. yard requirement is “no fucking pool, we’re in a god damn drought”
house can’t be small.
yuhteyParticipant

You would love Temecula
Agree, Temecula worth a look:
no it’s not. i do appreciate the inputs but c’mon i don’t want to sit in a car for that long everyday.
yuhteyParticipant
another great thing about Skyranch is it is only 10 minutes away from La Jolla.
that’s stated like a realtor!
santee sucks. i would never live there. last time i visited a friend back in 2008 there was a freak in boots with nazi crap on.
yuhteyParticipant
You would love Temecula
good one.
yuhteyParticipantThanks for the input.
Clantee not really in the cards.
Newp is too far a drive from SD, and I’m pretty sure the needed budget would have to be the low-2Millions. -
