You’re lucky you’re not in the bay area with the small amount of funds you have to buy. Maybe your wife’s parent’s can help “chip” in, but the downside of that is they will and can stop by anytime now to see the grandkids.
yes we are lucky we are here, as we are such poor workaday folk – how would we ever get by in the great bay area… silly con valley, no doubt.
well, unfortunately my wife’s parents will not be chipping in. her mom died a slow painful death by way of cancer this year. they had no life insurance, and no savings, so not even enough to cover the funeral cost.
yuhteyParticipantit’s a-sian, not b-sian.
we implement the kneeling on dry rice technique on our 16-month-old when he can’t get the animal puzzle pieces back in place in under 30 seconds. discipline!
i will clarify that the assumption about my wife is wrong. she is from orange county and they all think san diego is for losers. i have a hard time disagreeing with her most of the time. although – stories from the irvine battlefield are not pretty these days. apparently the fobby chinese and indians are driving everyone south to mission viejo. ouch.
we are in agreement about the locations here. CV no doubt has some of the highest end homes in the county, but the real draw is the school system and the low tax/hoa proposition. we could “take it our leave it” but are watching closely because every once in a while a really great place comes up in our price range. as you can imagine, we are getting good at spotting turds online without needing the viewing. “oh, is that an old-timey grandfather clock next to her majesty’s dining set? oooh, look at that pointless square-tiled granite countertop…REJECT”
they are not terribly overpriced, but one would think 100k to 200k off of sticker would allow for some updating. we are the type of buyers who don’t lowball.

Here’s a thread for you. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. It’s about carmel valley….

alright. i will study the bear girl.
yuhteyParticipant
I think this thread is done and I encourage our new member to take his business elsewhere. Can we lock this thread?
this thread is done? whaaaaaaa? piggingtons is a business?
yuhteyParticipant
We never experienced any of the negative issues being discussed in CV with regard to any age group, and really don’t know anyone who has, so maybe it’s all in the eye (or mind) of the beholder, and I really don’t see the need to make rude comments wrt any particular group of people in order to try to prove a point.
People also seem to think LJ is snooty, but my wife and I grew up there, and still have lots of family and friends there, and most of them are the best, most humble people we’ve ever known.
Imo, everyone should make the choices they feel are best for themselves and their family, and let others do the same.
People choose to live their lives in different ways in different places, and I really don’t understand why anyone would care what anyone else does if they are happy with their own lives.
here are the main issues, and they’re not that bad:
parking at the local stores
a touch of road rage here and there (probably due to the parking issues)
some of the older residents really should move on. they don’t need to be near elementary schools anymore. it’s time to cycle out. not that they should give their houses away – but it’s very clear to the buyers and the agents on both sides that the asking prices are generally too high for properties that have not been freshened up in a long time.but the market is the market. doesn’t matter what anyone *thinks* just matters what transactions occur.
and so the patient buyer can observe for a few months and then decide what to do next.

Sweet jesus, it’s 25 grand a year for grade school!!!! I can almost get my kid his b.s. From sdsu for one lousy year Hebrew school tuition. Thank u Jesus for saving me from that payment!!!
yikes. but wth some areas MR and HOA totals around $10k per year… on a 30-year note you’re still ahead!
yuhteyParticipant
Lol. She recommends buying in chula vista.
yes, and she’s being very culturally insensitive about it, too.
yuhteyParticipant
Maybe he’s just laughing at himself. Like what kind of bourgeois shit did I get myself into? Some of you take it too seriously.
gotta laugh at the whole process. from the new home sales staff monkeys, to the people whose hobby is to literally buy expensive houses and decorate them only to turn around and sell them after they get bored, to the uptight sellers, the shady agents, it’s a mess.
people in certain areas of california take housing way too seriously. there’s a few dingleberrys in norcal who have sued their neighbors because their neighbor’s autistic child “had a potentially chilling effect on the local real estate values”
yuhteyParticipantbear girl, i just think the input thus far has been piecemeal and scattered. just… where exactly are you taking me on this journey to south county? what is the end game – are there going to be pit-bulls and mastiffs?
yuhteyParticipant
Here’s a place where none of your neighbors will be entitled baby boomers, weirdos, hipsters, people with man buns, humbugs, democratic voters, old pricey bitches, or audi-driving fuckfaces:

You’d fit right in. And, it says canyon view!
that’s so clever. god i admire you.
yuhteyParticipant
You’re the only one whose mentioned your “class”. And if it’s not to your taste why are you keeping such close track of theCV RE offerings?
whoa, your new jersey aggression is just too much. leave that behind, in the roy rogers off the turnpike.
yuhteyParticipantif i’m not jewish, can i send my kids to a private jewish school? what about catholic without being catholic?
yuhteyParticipantso basically, the people of CV… they are open-minded enough to invest their money even in places like mira mesa… that’s so down-to-earth. the investment money supports the little guy too. that’s touching.
yuhteyParticipanthow many metal detectors does the mira mesa high school have? seems like a few may be in there.
