Participanton that note I also strong suggest trying to figure out who are the people who live above
– owner or renter?
– single young owner, or older couple
– any pets?all of that will help you assess risk.
best way to assess CURRENT NOISE… is to sit in the living room, close your eyes, and listen… for a long time.
or ask the people upstairs to prance around as loud as they think they would normally.
and then drop a pan in the kitchen.

ParticipantI agree with the word of warning form UCGal.
I would not get tile from TJ since you have never been there. Your fears of safety and “hail of gun fire” come across strongly to me. Only reason why I would, if I were in your shoes, is if one of your coworkers volunteered to “escort” you. You would need a local (or someone accustomed to the locals) to give yourself the best deals, anyways.

Participantinteresting article, walter.
for me, it’s hard for me to get the sense that dishwashing is better because nowadays when I do dishes it’s typically one bowl, one spoon, and one pot/pan… and it’s a lot quicker to handwash it at that point! especially since sticky rice is sticky.
but if dishwashers (and i’m talking about one for more like $500ish) can sense the load and adjust water flow based on that, I could believe that.
