The Mustang doesn’t have IRS for two main reasons
1) cost – the bulk of mustangs sold are relatively cheap (say 25k or less) and redeveloping the suspension would cost money

Image matters to some / most people. There are businesses and people that judge you by the car you drive (realtors anyone?)
Also it is far more achievable to have a 7 series than a nice house in SoCal–just crunch the numbers
