My Dad is one of those!! He moved out of state in 2006 because housing prices were insane. He is now looking to move back because as he says “he can afford it now”. I am one who is cheerleading another leg down in prices but i am beginning to think that it may not happen or may drag on for years and years to come.

I don’t know what the fixation is w/big vehicles. In Europe, this is a non-issue. They all drive small cars and it’s safe b/c if you remove the factor of big SUVs, everyone is on the same playing field.
I’m sorry. I think it is a huge waste of gasoline consumption and something I just don’t comprehend. But if you enjoy driving it and get some kind of pleasure out of it, then fine. Just don’t say it’s safety. If people were all driving smaller vehicles as in Europe, it would be equally as safe.[/quote]
I agree that we should all be driving smaller more fuel efficient vehicles. And I would if EVERYONE else did. Its all about safety. I would never put my children in a focus, yaris, or those other smaller cars. If we got hit by a yukon xl they would be demolished. Yes, the odds of getting in a car accident is small but its the same logic as why my 6 year old is still in a harness carseat…SAFETY!
I think that it is going to be very hard to rid ourselves of the tankers. Most of my friends have the same way of thinking as I. We will be driving our cars until we feel it is safe to have our children in smaller ones. As far as wasteful gas consumption, the last time I checked minivans didn’t have the greatest mpg.

I would definately buy and use a smaller car IF EVERYONE else agreed as well. I am a very defensive driver and still feel uneasy when I see a YukonXL coming at me with the driver talking on their phone.
The cost of gas will have no impact on my decision to drive my car. You can’t put a price on safety.
