ParticipantI would highly recommend that you read some of the “Doc Love” articles at Askmen.com
http://www.askmen.com/dating/doclove/
Note that I’m NOT recommending his overpriced book, but the free archived articles will get you pointed in the right direction.

ParticipantGranite/Corian counters seem to get a lot of ridicule on these housing bubble forums – I’m not sure why. I just got done finding a new rental in Las Vegas, so here’s my take on it from looking at a lot of mass-produced tract houses:
A five year old kitchen with granite counters and tile floor generally looks pretty good. Same age kitchen with tile counters and vinyl floor looks hideous. The grout is always nasty and moldy, the tiles become uneven from water seeping into the underlying chipboard, and it looks dated and cheap.
When I get ready to buy in 2008-2010, having a kitchen with current high-end materials and finish will be a must-have.

ParticipantThanks for the update. Mortgage tightening is still not affecting asking prices here in LV

ParticipantThe incoming NAR senior economist sure sounds a lot like the outgoing one.

ParticipantI visited most of the major towns in Northwest Arkansas in 2005 considering relocation there. I found Mountain Home to be very uninspiring on all levels, other than the excellent tailwater rainbow trout fishery. However, Fayetteville and Russellville were nice. Hard to find high $ jobs in either place, though.

ParticipantThere was an interesting prediction graph at Powayseller’s new site very similar to the notorious “S&P600 by Spring ’07” post except it was for some other asset class, I can’t recall which. Same logic & emphatic certainty. Could happen – I guess we’ll find out soon.

ParticipantYep. Dems are much better at negotiating hostage releases from Iran. Take Jimmy Carter, for instance…
