Participant
That was not a pleasant trip down memory lane, having been a survivor of the ’90’s real estate market, it was nevertheless an ugly time and not fun to re-visit.
Yeah and I couldn’t vote for part of it.
Also, the title of this thread sounds like porn title.April 27, 2009 at 3:00 PM in reply to: Deadly New Mexican Flu Virus Sparks Global Pandemic Fear #388327urbanrealtor
Participant

Russell, you and Allan broke up? I must have missed that drama.
Allan LOL
Enorah: The relationship, such as it was, could be likened to one of those Alabama trailer park romances. You know, the kind that end badly in a puddle of chicken grease, cheap beer and blood. With George Jones or Hank Williams playing in the background.
Sorry for joining late.
I would like to mention that I have found out precisely what NOT to say to the daycare lady when dropping off your 8 month old.
Her: Good morning. How was Owen’s weekend?
Me: Great. We spent it in Oaxaca playing with piglets.
Apparently I thought this was much funnier than she did.
Oh well.

Participant
veees, I am curious: why would 3/4 of 1% make a difference in a major purchase decision? Have you ever decided not to buy any new TV because the prices were 3/4 of 1% higher than you expected/wanted?
If 3/4 of 1% is actually enough to push this from affordable to unaffordable, then have you considered that paying the remaining 99.25% – that’s 133 times as much – is probably even more unaffordable for you?
Very well put.
At a conceptual level, the GSE’s (like Fannie) have the right to design their own underwriting standards.
I don’t think that protecting themselves more is a bad idea. This makes it less likely that they will need additional bailouts.
My 2 bits.

ParticipantI have had good experiences with Tom Hannah () in that neck of the woods.
He is just honest and fair as hell.
As the cynicism (often deserved) on this board demonstrates, honesty and integrity are at a premium in this business. Oftentimes, they are not practiced.
Today, I sat down with a couple who found me based on one of the blogs where I post.
They had a list of questions regarding my service.
I think the most important questions were:
What will I get as far as service should I choose to work with you?
Is this your primary vocation?
How much (and what kind of) experience do you have?
In what ways would working with you be better (or worse) than working with another agent?
In addition to this, I would look up their DRE record
http://www2.dre.ca.gov/PublicASP/pplinfo.asp
If the agent is offering something special (eg: I offer free inspections, other agents offer buyer rebates) then you owe it to yourself to find out what the requirements are for that perk. For example here is house rebate’s explanation of discounts:
http://sandiego.houserebate.com/about/buying.asp(you should read the fine print at the bottom).
That being said, good luck.
Oh, also, remember that a big part of the service we provide is consultation and information. No questions are ever off limits (or at least they shouldn’t be).
Again, good luck.
