From my perspective – I agree with CONCHO. TPTB are going to manipulate things in a way that I will get hosed.
Maybe it’s a bubble. Maybe it will be the only currency that survives the economic meltdown. The only thing I do know…
I can’t eat gold.
I suppose I can use it as a weapon – if it’s in coins or ingots… not so much if it’s bullion.
They idea of having food and water reserves makes sense to me. They idea of having gold because armageddon is coming… eh, not so much. As an investment… to much manipulation for my comfort.

I hate all the bailouts but I don’t think that a Republican administration would have done anything different.
I agree with this. And the proof is that the bailouts started in the form of the TARP plan – with the executive branch (GOP) telling the congress (Dem) that we’d have financial armageddon if we didn’t bail out the banks.
Both parties are culpible in the bailouts.
One side wants to do stimulus.
The other side crafted tax cuts that were super slanted to the wealthy.
Neither party seems to worry about the deficit. Officials from both parties seem very beholden to corporate interests at the expense of the people.
I’m generically disgusted with politicians.

Participant
SDCCU is no longer doing Jumbos. I know a lot of people who were doing the 3/1 & 5/1 40yr with amounts over $1MM. Might have finally figured out they had a lot of risk on their plate.
wow – you’re right… only loans up to $417k. (I just went and looked.)Actually, as a depositor, I’m a bit relieved.
