TumblesParticipant
I’m still actively looking while patiently waiting for that dream house with a killer price! I looked at a house on Brynwood the other day. It was a nice house and had a mountain view from the backyard. The backyard was a bit overdone – a huge fountain, a koi pond, a waterfall, and a broken inground hot tub – I thought the entire backyard was very tacky. The house, however, was nicely remodeled and had a decent layout. It’s just not the house I’m looking for.

I have all the time in the world to wait for that dream house — I own a townhome in PB that I bought in the mid-90s and am sitting pretty good with a mortgage considerably less than the current rental rates. I’m just thankful I didn’t tap into that equity (I had that crazy “thought” a few years back).
poway_seller, I’m curious to which houses you looked at and your thoughts of them.

TumblesParticipantI seen this house and it is even rougher condition than the pictures depict! The pool no longer has blue water – it is green and thick looking! The home seemed to have good bones, however, it needs a lot of sweat and money to bring it up to date (new kitchen, baths, windows, flooring and roof). The home really shows it’s neglect. The view is really nice. Corporate owned by Citibank.

For $70K more you can buy this home across the street:

I’m still looking in Del Cerro — just haven’t found the right house.

TumblesParticipantMac, I thought the same about needing $200K to update the Crystalaire house, including new stairs and an addition, to make it a nice home to live in.
I drove to Mt Helix to check out the area…was too far out of the way for my liking.
I looked at 2 houses on Madra and was overall impressed with 6207 (which is now in escrow) – their inflated list price was $925K. I’m curious what price the owners accepted. http://www.sdlookup.com/Property-19AA2B64-6207_Madra_Ave_San_Diego_CA_92120
5991 Madra had a quirky layout, shoddy workmanship, and doesn’t have much curb appeal. http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-076073694-5991_Madra_Ave_San_Diego_CA_92120.
Was scheduled to look at 5892 Madra but the owners canceled. Was told that it’s a short sale. Drove by this house one day and wondered if it was a “mini dorm” by the number of college aged students walking up drive way. Not to fond of the shared drive with the neighbor. http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-078085946-5892_Madra_Ave_San_Diego_CA_92120
I really like Del Cerro and will patiently continue watching for the right house/deal.
