ParticipantIMO she was about half right, in the mid 90’s Sr engineers were getting about 70k, entry about 40k (from my experience anyway).
By 1999 it was getting closer to 100k for Sr engineers (in Socal, again from my experience).
Now about 150K
But the interest rate was about 8-9 percent at that time I think that has a greater influence on house prices IMO.
The biggest issue is the non-tech workers have not kept up for the most part.

ParticipantOn my few journeys into China (which must have been much better than it was 40 years ago), the one thing I did notice was a lack of Toilet paper (and Toilets for that matter).
But everything else was actually quite well stocked, shoes any type of clothes etc…

ParticipantI would definitely agree we need to raise the incomes at the lower levels to make up for the last 20 years of suppression but I would not call that Socialism, just a fair wage act, there is a huge difference between the two.

Probably part of the elite class LOL,
Things work better in the fantasy world.

ParticipantSeems like a system designed to motivate people to do the least possible they could get away with.
If I am not mistaken I think we have already seen how this ends.

ParticipantPolitics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.

ParticipantWell not that I have a hard body now so maybe I should not give advice.
I agree it’s more about intake than exercise but working out every day is really a good Idea as well (nothing better than a long walk IMO).
At one time I got on this calorie restriction craze, it really worked I felt really really great (I was taking the stairs three four rungs at a time and I was in my late 40’s at that time).
Anyway it worked for me at that time I need to do it again.

ParticipantBeing a few blocks from the beach this summer has been like being in a steam room (or on a Florida beach) LOL.
hot and humid.
I wonder if it will be like that from now on during September etc.. in Socal

ParticipantNever heard of it before, but I kind of like it.
Gives you something to live for LOL.

ParticipantSeems like half of Irvine is on sale.

ParticipantActually (very surprisingly) there are a few very affordable Socal coastal towns left port hueneme and Oxnard being examples.
But I don’t think these will stay affordable too much longer.
Anyway IMO.SB does have great deals as well but not really affordable for most maybe. If you got a million or so to spend on a house you can get a very nice place in SB.

ParticipantWe need more Metro Rail not a Hyperloop or hi-speed-rail.
the hyperloop or hi-speed-rail will not get people out of cars, it will just take a very small number of people out of planes.
Hyperloop and hi-speed-rail are just money wasting boondoggles.
