ParticipantCalorie counting LOL, kind of have become obsessed with it.
For me (over 6’ Male) about 2500 Calories under normal activity is what I should burn a day.
I try to keep my intake to about 1500 to 1800 a day that should burn off the excess fat over time.
(I guess I will see if that works).
Walking or running the same distance burns about the same amount of calories so I try to keep walking whenever possible (run about half mile every day).September 20, 2016 at 6:44 AM in reply to: How a pension deal went wrong and cost California #801339The-Shoveler
ParticipantState will go BK unless major inflation beyond the 5-6% adjustment (15 dollars an hour minimum wage comes to mind).
Anyway I think it is all part of the plan.
FED bale out and Fed money printing to infinity and beyond LOL.
IMO there is no exit strategy for the FED.
I don’t worry about China either, only the USA is stupid enough to let its housing market crash (in China the Gov is the Bank).

ParticipantI have started skipping Dinner (eat only two meals , breakfast and lunch), that seems to be working for me.
Lost 10 pounds in two weeks.
Have protein shake followed with some cereal about 20 minutes later for breakfast.
Then a good lunch with a apple in the late afternoon.
(run about half mile in the morning as well).Anyway feel much better seems to work for me.

ParticipantFor that price range (800K) I think you could have found something similar in Ventura County (well right now anyway, I think it will go up soon IMO), it’s very weird on LA. county coast the prices are 2-3 times what they are in Ventura county coast 15 minutes up PCH ).
Or maybe in Nor-Cal (but the weather would not be the same).
Either that or Florida.
Anyway, good luck enjoy.

ParticipantFunny I never hear anyone say anything about India.
India is the one taking over the Jobs Americans want not China LOL.

ParticipantMultiple streams of income (Better than FU money).
FU money can disappear or be inflated away faster than you can accumulate it.
I would advise working on getting multiple streams of income as soon as possible (I would put this as a higher priority than college).
anyway my 2 cents.

ParticipantI don’t think it would help me, I would just be left there alone with the crap in my head and no distractions.

ParticipantNot all American suburbs are created equal.
for SoCal most Suburbs within an hours commute of the major cities usually continue to grow into major cities themselves (100-300K population) and create Jobs and new suburbs.
I don’t see that trend slowing at all at least for SoCal.
I can never find a parking space for either the Carlsbad or Temecula Costco no matter what time of day I go there.
Here is my pick for the next surprise growth story.

OK laugh if you want but you heard it here first LOL.
anyway IMO.The-Shoveler
ParticipantI completely disagree on the Costco article.
Just like the Auto industry pessimist after 7 years of good sales and sales records they have one bad quarter and suddenly it is the end of an era in america LOL.
Talk to builders, if there are enough construction workers they can’t find them.
The-Shoveler
ParticipantActually people really DO want to live in suburbs but land use restrictions and labor shortages are what is really holding back new inventory.
Mostly there is a lot more household formation than new inventory being added so it becomes a classic supply and demand thing.
Millennials seem to have very little interest in construction jobs so there is your labor shortage.
And yes they DO want to buy cars, (we were just having record car sales), they just dropped off a smidgen and you get everyone who is trying to convince everyone else that they should not own cars trying to make an issue that does not exist.
The-Shoveler
ParticipantCould happen but it would be extremely unlikely to be anything close to what happened in 2006-11.
You need to let anyone who has no income buy any home they want to and then you would have to let that run a few years IMO.
Anyway IMO we are a long way from that currently.
Even the finance guy said that in the beginning but the host seem to force the issue at the end to meet/keep the shows theme LOL.
The-Shoveler
ParticipantIt is mostly self inflicted by zoning.
You can’t force communities to build high density housing in special area’s.
Instead they need to open up the the land use restrictions in the more rural areas where they currently require 20 acre minimum lot size.
IMO people want to live in suburbia, but the planning commission imposes high density, which in reality most communities do not want.

ParticipantOur Back-up car is an old Truck.
Very useful at times.
Maybe you can get one 7-10 years old for about 5K

Participant
From what my developer friends tell me, the lack of buildable land here will be
self-limiting as far as development goes, so regardless of whether you’re for or against it won’t, imo, really matter.
Along the immediate coast that may be true, but inland there is an enormous amount of buildable land left in SD county especially the further north you go.
Not everyone needs to live in the first 5 miles of the coast.
If there is a lack of land it is because of zoning.
North County will see the bulk of the new development and biz in the next few decades IMO.
