For retirement I think no one would be looking for a multi-level condo IMO but what do I know.

My mothers Single level Condo on a golf course is Ideal for her. Walmart and Amazon show up at the door no problem (actually they show up no problem at my place and I am quite a ways out in the boonies, have not tried dinner dash yet).

She has not played much golf lately but her friends still meet up every morning.

Developed Land- Despite all the hand wringing over sprawl and urbanization, only 66 million acres are considered developed lands. This amounts to 3 percent of the land area in the U.S.

Even along the coast it is a small percentage.

It only looks large because we are small and in the middle of it.

You can always sell the house and downsize into a condo,

Once you downsize into a condo, trying to go back to a SFH may be a bit challenging,

My brother in-law regrets his decision to downsize (too early).

Now being retired he cannot afford to move back to a SFH.

After living in a SFH all his life, living in a condo is very limiting.

One of the biggest greenhouse gas emissions come from container ships (far more than cars). I don’t know what anyone would have against refrigerators, stoves etc.. made in the USA again (maybe even phones).

I would argue that “most” manufacturing will return to the USA (think robots and 3D printing). I do also support the gov doing some subsidizing for targeted industries Solar, batteries etc… (just do a much better job at it than Obama admin did).

But anyway I do think some deal will be reached.

I don’t know, seems (at least in the major cities) the retirement age is between 50-60 years old.

These people (the majority) get more money now than when they were working, they are used to traveling the world etc.. (touring in motorhomes around china etc…).

It is much different than it was 20 or even 10 years ago.

The Kids get spoiled LOL, they are used to expect more opportunity.

Anyway hopefully some deal can be reached

We should encourage IP theft, Demand that everything sold here be made here and that all technology used be shared.
Engage in corporate espionage.

Only give/help others if there is something in it for us.

We should subsidize some critical industries more to eliminate any foreign competition.
We should target all the industries they are.

Solar should be required to made here, batteries etc..

The thing about building expensive infrastructure is that it is then expensive to maintain, it is a task that can never stop once it is put into use.

Building it would be extremely expensive,

IMO the more interesting thing is if this Huawei issue is not resolved, who is going to build the 5G phones?
QCOM still owns the chip sets.

Seems there has been a 90 day reprieve on Huawei ban. don’t know if this applies to QCOM or not.

Maybe just a negotiating tactic, we will see.

The Silk road thing was probably never really going to happen anyway but seems all but doomed now.

They are going (or were) going to have a hard enough time just keeping the in country infrastructure projects going and maintained even without the trade war.

It was unlikely to be sustainable over the long term anyway.

This latest huawei thing has got me a little worried as it may cause some pain locally.

Hopefully some type of deal can be reached soon, but anyway as I said before this is for all the marbles.

This is no less than a battle for who is going to dominate the future.

Out of other options, this is their goal, we can not afford to lose this one.

Anyway these type of dictatorships will fail eventually, it only works while things are going well (or under very harsh military rule).

There is very little or no acceptance of non-conforming or non-conformance in these societies, maybe think about that a little.
