ParticipantThe only thing I would rule out however is long term asset deflation
The Gov can’t afford it.

ParticipantI think 1970’s-ish type inflation is very possible.
maybe 5-7 percent for 10 years.
And a strong-ish dollar to boot.
The-Shoveler
Participantin the 80’s you had rising prices as well as rates.
We may see something similar in the future but probably not near as high rates.
But I myself would resist using my assumable loan if I could.
The-Shoveler
ParticipantThere are a lot of reasons NOT to sell your home using your assumable loan but even if you did.
You the buyer want to take on more debt than the home is worth ?
Falling asset prices in general lead to failing economy.
The-Shoveler
ParticipantFall prices financed with long term debt will kill any economy.
Look for that to be resisted at all costs.
Just my two cents.
Same thing applies to any debt, even student debt or gov debt.

ParticipantA lot will have a different opinion but IMO these crises were as designed.
2000 and 2008
meaning well planned in advanced

ParticipantI would not have guessed that Iraq would cause the next economic downturn.
But yea in general very few wars have ever accomplished anything and are a catastrophic waste of human capital and resources.

ParticipantCostco actually has decent beer
Kirkland Amber AleI generally only drink the better quality stuff (maybe 1 a night)
But generally my tastes are very commercial as well (as is my budget )
Guinness or Sam Adams

ParticipantWe do that and we will be speaking Canadian in a heartbeat eh?

ParticipantI saw a proposal to not allow any college tuition, and only have students repay by having 2% of their pay for life (after collage go to the college).
That way the college would not take students unless they could be reasonably assured their graduates would be able to earn a decent living.
In Germany I think they already outlawed college tuition.

ParticipantDelete wrong thread

ParticipantGood now it’s not just me missing out setting on the side lines.

But If I go long big, that it!! bam!! over night huge decline for sure.
