ParticipantI think you can chock this up to software eating the world,
These days Hardware is becoming more and more just programmed multifunction chips.
Then you have the whole cloud VM thing.The-Shoveler
ParticipantIt seems Jordan is leaving a bunch of smoking holes where ISIS was right now.

ParticipantTX is #3
CA is not even on the list LOL.
10 states with the worst taxes for average Americanshttp://finance.yahoo.com/news/10-states-worst-taxes-average-152801268.html

ParticipantI don’t want to get too deep in this but really ISIS seems hell bent on pissing off everyone to the point where they will be blasted off the planet.

ParticipantYea that’s the thing about L.A. LOL
There are more total engineering Jobs in L.A. County than the Bay Area even.
The issue is everything is 40-50 miles from everything else and there are a lot of people in between LOL.

ParticipantAmgen
There are a lot of spin offs in Simi, West-Lake and Valancia.
OK technically some of that is in Ventura county but it’s all part of the same general North-LA region.
I have worked in all three locals (also Arcadia).
I would add in L.A. a hour commute is considered reasonable LOL. I do know quite a few Amgen employees who live in Valencia and even Arcadia and Westwood.

Participanti think Roubini has it right,
he said in the face of fiscal austerity your going to end up with endless QE and very low rates for a very long time.
So there you go, spend like drunken sailors or never stop the money printing presses.
just kidding sort of.

ParticipantSD or OC is a better place for Software engineers than L.A. IMO, although L.A. County has the most High Tech Jobs of just about any county (even San Jose), it’s just that their all 40-50 driving miles from each other LOL.

ParticipantLike anything you can bend these stats anyway you want to IMO.
LA is definitely more pricey than SD for what you get.
But in LA city workers make probably close to twice what they do in SD, then you have the studios.
And the list goes on.I would say for a software engineer or self-employed person SD is better than LA as far as what you could afford (I would add San Jose as well), anyway IMO.

ParticipantBig drop today for Gold (and Silver), wonder what Peter would say to that.

Participant

The good thing about blocks is you can put them at an angle to make them fairly stable, and they won’t suddenly deflate on you LOL. (seriously I have seen that happen, it’s does not end well if someone is under it).
I’ve see the really cool foam based ramps…

ParticipantHmm tough call,
If you are going to use it a lot (say once every 3-6 months) then maybe.
If I get rich someday I would like to install a lift in the yard then build a garage around it, but I live out in the middle of nowhere so I could get away with that LOL.
I don’t use it enough to justify it otherwise.
I am cheap so I would go with the $100.00 floor jack I already have and bricks (I would use it maybe once every 2-3 years).
