Let’s just pray that the market roars back again before the 10-12 year required re-do, or we’ll see some ugly health issues!

ParticipantYes Allan, I am off the rails at times, but I do decry the decline of civility in modern American society. I was quite amazed by the quiet interaction between two French woman and the five children they were traveling with on the Chunnel a couple of years ago, this being in direct contradiction to the same sort of group on the BART and the Cal Train in No. Cal. Furthermore, my observation in Paris was that people were quiet, didn’t scream their private business on their cell phones in public places, never yelled and cussed (taxi drivers excepted), and spoke discreetly behind their hands in restaurants.

I think whether it’s religious or secular, raw power is completely efficient and totally ruthless in seeking it’s own ends. Dress it up however you want, but the bottom line remains the same: “God is on the side of the big battalions”.[/quote]Hey, that’s capitalism at its finest. It only works when you have someone to exploit (or eliminate). Whatever will we do when we have blasted through all the labor in the third world countries to produce tchotchkes, but we can’t sell tchotchkes to the 1st world population because the market is totally saturated?
