This is an amazing election…read this article!
https://www.yahoo.com/news/talk-grows-replacing-trump-convention-000000790.html
“I want to support the nominee of the party, but I think the party ought to change the nominee. Because we’re going to get killed with this nominee,” Hugh Hewitt, a nationally syndicated conservative radio talk show host, said. “They ought to get together and let the convention decide. And if Donald Trump pulls over a makeover in the next four to five weeks, great, they can keep him.”The Republican powers-that-be still think they should overrule the vote of the people! They think pulling the carpet out from under Trump at the convention is a perfectly valid thing to do!
There has never been clearer evidence that the Republican party thinks their members are just puppets that they can control and overrule on a whim.
Unbelievable the stuff that this election season is uncovering.
svelteParticipantI think all those people went extinct from lack of procreation.
svelteParticipant
Sigh…where do I begin???
I would begin by making your posts shorter, more succinct and to the point.
Instead of rambling manifestos on Phasters Theory On Everything.
svelteParticipantAgree with the article that many marry the wrong person (witness the divorce rate), but “you will marry the wrong person” is pretty strong and wrong. I married the right person.
My theory ever since I was dating is that one needs to live with a potential spouse for a minimum of one year before tying the knot. It is one thing to date, but living with someone day to day is the only way to know them very well. To see them at their best and at their worst and in all moods. Only then can you make an educated decision about something as important as a permanent partner.
People can put on a good mask when they are around someone for a few hours a few times a week. But full time every single day – not so much. That mask is gonna drop here and there.
svelteParticipant
It’s been nearly 300 years since paper money became accepted as legal tender. While much has changed about how we make, sell, and buy goods, cash has stuck around. It’s been only recently that the road to a wider cashless society has started to really take shape.
From apps such as PayPal, Venmo, or Square Cash to mobile payment platforms like Kenya’s mPesa, Bangladesh’s bKash, or Apple Pay, there are signs that cash is following the path of other “information goods,” such as printed photographs, cassette tapes, and DVDs in being replaced by digital alternatives.
I just went about 2 weeks without cash – finally had to visit an ATM last night though.
I think that’s a record for me as an adult – 2 weeks. As I stood at the ATM machine, I too wondered how much longer cash would be around.
svelteParticipant
Why does everybody have such a hard on for Muhammad Ali? I never did understand it. Sportscenter predictably going on for hours yesterday talking about him, suspending all other programs, as if the President had died.
I don’t get it either.
That’s okay – I don’t have to get everything.
svelteParticipant
svelte you are comparing output on different days. I am talking about a more scientific way to measure output. If my neighbors output was 19.1 on Wednesday and 27.4 on Thursday and my output was 26.95 on Wednesday then assuming the same clouds and weather for 2 people in the same neighborhood then my output should be 38.66, but if after cleaning them in the morning I get 41.4 then I got 7.1% more electricity than if I had not cleaned them that morning. The way you are talking you are comparing day x1 with day x2 which involves too many variables. The number of panels or type or age do not even come into play with my way. By the way if I were to maintain that output over the summer it would save me $100.
Wait, what?
You compare different roofs and think that is more scientific?
I don’t know what to say. Except maybe you own or plan to own a panel cleaning company.
svelteParticipantOh give me a gd break.
It’s not as dire as you all make it to be.
I’ve got two kids.
One four year degree. Got a great job in the bay area this year. Making a lot of $$ but renting.
The other a certificate, not even a two year degree. Making an equal amount of $$ in SD, able to buy a house which the other kid can’t do. Will the 4 year degree win out? No doubt in the long run. But for now, neck in neck, both working office jobs for great corporations, both hard working, both going for the gold.
Let’s not be doom-n-gloomers. Is the world as it was 50 years ago? of course not. But human nature being what it is, there will always be lazy folks and those that will do whatever it takes to be successful. Degree or not.
As the saying goes, you can’t keep a good man down.
svelteParticipantYeah, I don’t think I’ve been to a HS or college graduation where the speeches didn’t make me cringe.
And now I don’t remember a single thing that was said in any of them, including my HS and college graduations. Only memories I have is what is shown in a few photographs and one particular song chosen as the theme, I think it was at either my HS or college ceremony: Pablo Cruise “Find Your Place In The Sun”. Must’ve been HS, can’t imagine it being played at the university graduation.

svelteParticipant
From the ground they don’t look dirty but if you get up close you will see they are. I did not clean the little tiny yellow spots off (bee poop?) as that was minimal. If you go on enphase website https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com/public_systems you can see public arrays and how they are producing
I wasn’t judging by what they look like from the ground. I was judging by power output.
To get back to my best output from June 2015 (71.8) from my output yesterday (68.8), I would have to increase my 68.8 by 4%, not 7%.
And I’m betting that later this month, I come close or match my best June 2015 day (71.8) since the days get longer in June.
I’ll post again later in the month when more days have passed. It will be especially interesting on the same day of the year as my best day in June 2016 (6/19).
Also, I have SolarEdge, not Enphase.
svelteParticipantHmmm.
Well maybe you live in a spot where your panels get extra dirty.
I did 68.8 kWh yesterday.
My best day June 2015 was 71.8 kWh, and it was later in the month. My panels were installed in June 2015. Since days are getting longer, I bet I hit that again later this month.
And I have yet to wash my panels in 12 months of use.
I don’t think washing my panels would get me much at all if anything, and evidence is it definitely wouldn’t be 7%.
svelteParticipant
I’ve done 600 trips with Uber and 100 with Lyft, recently switched to Lyft.
…
Wow, I had no idea there were so many unwritten rules. I was about to start using Uber/Lyft, now I’m not so sure.
There is a place we like to go here in town but the parking is limited, so I was thinking of Uber/Lyft to (a) eliminate the need to park, and (b) allow me to drink as much as I want. But it would be a short 3-4 mile ride, and if drivers are upset by that, maybe I shouldn’t bother.
That being said, I’d never give a driver $2.40 for a ride. I’d feel guilty giving under $10!
Plus, I feel these companies have skirted the rules to get in the door…Uber is not a “ride sharing service” – most of the rides are NOT where the driver was going anyway! They are taxis, pure and simple, and have used the cover of “ride sharing” to get the camel’s nose in the tent. They should have to abide by the same rules as taxis.

Otherwise there does seem to be some junk fees in that list. When there are multiple fees with similar sounding names and conveniently round numbers as the cost, there are likely some bogus costs slipped into the deal.
I suspect the OP rounded the numbers themselves.
Case in point: it totals $7700 not $8K.
