svelteParticipant
Too much attention being paid to the yield curve IMO.
It takes a lot of research and confidence before you start pounding nails on a bunch of new housing tracts at the same time.
It’s not just the inverted yield curve.

svelteParticipantI agree dont sell.
We had a similar plan to yours when our kids left, we were going to downsize so we sold. But we ended up buying a bigger house! And we are glad we did. We get visitors often and all the space is handy then.
We have even had kids and grandkids move in temporarily, so all space is used then also. I know some people go smaller just so kids cant come home, but we enjoy being the hub of the family. Our house will be remembered as where all the great memories happened. It makes us happy.
svelteParticipantthat actually sounds pretty tasty right about now.

I’m hoping a lot of a moderates bailout on this party and a lot of moderates that bailed out of the republican party can find something the rally under and leave this extremes on the both side once and for all. AOC, Warren, Bernie, Harris, can keep the old democrat party…But they might as well change the party name to the American Socialist Party at that point….I think both parties really stopped representing most americans once the extreme wackos started taking over.
I would agree with that. We need a new party. Neither the Dems or the Reps are anything close to my flavor or most of my friend’s flavor. Extremists in both of those parties.
And both of those parties are throwing out the moderates. That’s why the number of folks registering as undeclared are growing. I’ve been that way since I started to vote. Glad to see many are joining me.
svelteParticipant
Record high stock market close. lol. Party like it’s 1999.
I’ll wear by raspberry beret.
svelteParticipant
amazing what $500 will get you… too bad it’s sold out for now too.

There was a point in my life I lived in the Sacramento area and was struggling. EDS (Perot’s company) wanted to hire me to manage a data center there.
They sent me the contract to sign. The pay was poor and there was a clause stating that if I quit within the first year, I would owe the company $3x, two years $2x, and 3 years $1x. Can’t remember what x was but it was a significant part of the salary.
I passed on that offer and shortly thereafter got a great offer doing software development in San Diego. The rest is history. Thank goodness I passed on Ross.

One parent would help their spouse when health failed, but when that spouse passed and the remaining spouse’s health failed things got trickier.
Fortunately for us, our remaining parents have wanted to stay in their home right up to the bitter end and we have had siblings who were at a point in their life where they wanted to live with and assist the remaining parent.
So far, we’ve been able to keep them in their homes. On my side, after my mom passed and my dad remained at home right up until the day he died.
On my wife’s side, it is working out similarly but we’ll find out more this summer as her health is failing very rapidly and we don’t expect her to make it past August.
Of our four parents, one died of a car accident and three will die of cancer – 2 lung cancers and a breast cancer.
svelteParticipantDid the same thing – stayed with my tiered plan instead of taking the TOU they were automatically switching me to.
I just analyzed my last 10 years of SDGE bills. Found this interesting:
Rates in April 2019:
Tier 3: $.49
Tier 2: $.35
Tier 1: $.25Rates in April 2012:
Tier 4: $.26
Tier 3: $.24
Tier 2: $.17
Tier 1: $.14In other words, the cheapest rate this year is about as much as the highest rate 7 years ago. Rates have almost doubled in 7 years.
svelteParticipantStock down to $211. Ouch.
Seems like everything is going wrong for Tesla lately.
Fires. Autopilot deaths. Tariffs. Slowing US sales.I really do think they’ll have to be purchased by another company, probably in 2020.
As others have said, an Apple-Tesla tie up seems to be a match made in heaven, but I’m not sure Apple is interested in the auto industry any more.

svelteParticipantThe transition to autonomous vehicles will be long and gradual. We’re not going to have self driving cars that don’t need a person in the driver’s seat for a long, long time no matter what Tesla wants you to think.
The first increment will be cars that can drive themselves on specific, well controlled roads. Perhaps toll roads or HOV lanes. Next, in very well mapped geo-fenced areas, but that may require some sort of street to car communication to bring the safety factor high enough to implement. In both of these situations, there will still need to be a driver ready to take control once the vehicle leaves the well controlled area.
But to be able to program a car to understand all situations that the human mind can interpret instantaneously? We’re a long way from that.
Have you watched the video of an autonomous car following a non-autonomous car down the freeway? The front NA car swerves suddenly into the next lane to avoid a stalled car, and the A car hits the stalled vehicle. If the second car had been a human, the driver may have been able to look thru the front car to see the upcoming stalled vehicle, or at a minimum the driver would likely have swerved just assuming the front car saw something bad.
That is just one example, but there are other situations that humans can interpret but will be very difficult to implement in software.
Maybe I’ve got autonomy on my mind because I read today that a couple made the first porno in a Tesla running on autopilot.
