I just think it’s cool that the DA refused to arrest them and the police actually gave them an escort through town.
If only we were so open-minded today. In some ways, we’ve taken giant steps backward.

Great album too.
svelteParticipantNextdoor is pretty bad. The stuff I read on there – and it’s not just the females I might add – is really obnoxious nosey Joe and Jane type of stuff.
Yelp is fun to read too. Some of the crap that people complain about from various businesses is just amazing to read. Makes me glad I don’t have to deal with the general public at my job.

San Diego County Clears Way for Beaches to Reopen as Soon as Monday at Cities’ Discretion
Totally agree that total lockdown over by June.
The question is – what happens then?
What will the limitations be?
Will restaurants have to sit every other table?
Will that give them enough business to make a profit?
How long do we all wear face masks?
When does school reopen?
what about sporting events and concerts?
How will employers react?
When will employers bring folks back on-site?
All unclear at this point.
svelteParticipantI wonder if the end result of all of this is that people will be less willing to take service industry jobs because they will be viewed as unstable, and more people will seek office jobs because they will be viewed as more stable.
This would push wages for restaurants, hotels, etc up and wages for office jobs down.
This may really happen if folks expect a second virus round to hit in a few months.
svelteParticipantScaredy, I totally agree with Brian. Your posts are a joy to read. Really. Some day I hope your thoughts make it to print.
I too am flabberghasted by religion and Christians in particular. It makes me fear my fellow man how so many people can follow such an insane concept.
It may interest you to know that while in college my roommate insisted on keeping a buddha on our coffee table. We had fish tanks on both end tables, an “underwater candle” on the lower part of the coffee table, and a buddha on top of the coffee table. Coffee table. What a weird term. Haven’t heard it for years. Man am i old. I rather enjoyed looking at the fat smiling man. As did our guests.
I also worked manual labor a couple of summers when I was living with my future wife. Had a helluva tan. And a few of the folks who dug trenches with me were Mormon. I loved those people. Very kind and not preachy.
In the last decade we’ve become good friends with some Jews. Another group of very warm people – nonjudgmental. They were on our “wild side”. Very open minded. Very smart. Very rich. They accepted us for who we are – warts and all.
Life is such a trip. We’re enjoying the ride. Isolation, not so much.
svelteParticipantGod I miss going out. Will someone let me out of this cage?

Wait…I lost interest. Forget the whole venture[/quote]lol.
I have friends at both extremes. I have to say those at the far right are a little harder to take simply because they speak more harshly. But the far left is just as extreme.
I tilt left myself so I understand the left better. But I grew up in a far right household and I have to say my dad’s intentions were good. As are a lot of the folks on the right. it’s just they see things from a totally different perspective.
Maybe it’s walk a mile in my shoes thing, I don’t know. I’ll never be smart enough to know why the world is the way it is. I’ve made peace with that.
I don’t think we would have ever had a Trump had we not had an Obama. I really can’t figure out what set the right off so bad about Obama. All I can figure is that he was black. And just half black at that – maybe the 1/2 thing is the real reason? Other than that, I really don’t have a good explanation. (not that I think that’s a good reason, it’s just one that may explain their reaction)

Here is a balanced article on drought:
https://www.sacbee.com/news/california/water-and-drought/article242063336.htmlAnd here is how Huffpo spun it:
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/southwest-megadrought-study_n_5e98f24dc5b63639081bdd89they focused on how this one is *gonna* be worse (as if they know) and fail to talk at all about the normal 300-400 year cycle of large droughts.
You’re pretty far left of center, scaredy. I think you just can’t see it from your vantage point.
