svelteParticipantThe show is pretty entertaining.
I like the way Barry spreads his feet and squats when he opens up his Apple to show them his remodel ideas. wtf?
Wifey hates that we don’t get to see the remodel results, too. I suspect the reason is that it never happens.
What always gets me is that the house they choose has inevitably been on the market for over 6 months but Barry’s sidekick never mentions that they should offer them less than asking!! That would give you some extra remodel $$!!

svelteParticipantThis thread got carried away in minutiae and lost the overall point.
It does seem to feel much different that the 90s downturn and has seen a suprisingly strong selling season this year. In the neighborhoods within a 2 mile radius of our house, there are very few homes for sale. The lawns are green too (not many are REOs).
It seems way too quick to have found the final bottom, but who knows. Many more people sat out the bubble than most on this board realize and they want to buy before they get priced out again. Years of watching in frustration has apparently weighed heavily on their patience.
They just want to get on with their life – to h*ll with whether there is much more of a downside.

svelteParticipant
Arraya,
I still feel speculation/manipilation was the main driver that pushed oil up to 147 or so.
For once you and I agree on something, John.
I don’t how anybody could watch the events this year – especially the last few weeks – and not come to that conclusion.
Though I may be totally off base here, I have two theories on why speculation may have run rampant:
1) Investors were trying to figure out where to stash their money – housing looks bad, stock market looks bad, gotta put it somewhere! Why not oil?2) I wouldn’t put it past some of the other countries who are very unhappy with the current US political climate to try and influence the upcoming election by artificially increasing the price of oil through speculation to attempt to tilt the field toward the Dems. I have absolutely zero proof – just a hunch.
I usually don’t go for conspiracy theories but I’m making an exception in this case. ๐
