I like the mean look better, though really how mean could a miata look?
Unfortunately, I have a feeling the power figures are going to be a bit disappointing… I’d say about 173/170ish tops with a slightly tuned 2.0 Skyactiv engine, maybe even less.
Yeah I tend to buy cars that look mean or at least angry. 🙂
And I agree the Miata just doesn’t have the size to pull that off. I’m fine with that and still love it, I’d just prefer no smiley or frowny faces on it…

svelteParticipant
And the 2016 Miata? Stunning.
Great work Mazda, best one yet! And that’s saying something.
Wait, what?
Why did we go from a smiley face the last gen to a frowny face out back this time?

svelteParticipant
On the opposite spectrum, several homes have oceans views.
SFH is in the valley surrounded by hills.
Which homes have ocean views in Santa Fe Hills?
svelteParticipantMy thoughts on San Marcos homes (a street in each subdivision given in parenthesis):
-Bel Esprit (Bel Esprit Cir): Nice homes, fairly quiet, easy freeway access
-Belleza (Camino Hermoso): Tiny lots, odd location
-Buenavista (Rush Drive): Gated
-Campana (Wandering Way): Gated, too close to CSUSM
-Discovery Hills (Poppy Road): Nice central location
-Dove Glen (Red Fox Ln): Nice homes, larger lots, easy access to major roads
-Hampton Hill(Lake Ridge Drive): Well established, not much privacy
-Olive Hill Estates (Settlers Court): Nice homes & lots
-Pinehurst Collection (Turtle Point Way): Nice homes, some are oddly situated
-Rancho Dorado (Island Drive): Great views, nice homes
-Rancho Santalina (Pegasus Way): Weird location, small lots
-Rosemont (Violet Ave): Close to mining operation (but it’s scheduled to close I think)
-Sage Canyon Ranch (Ariana Road): Very nice well kept development. Nice quiet location
-Santa Fe Hills (Corte Raquel): Nice central location, only one on list with no HOA I think
-Silver Crest (Edgewater): Close to Sprinter, gated
-Stone Canyon (Canyon Heights): Nice homes, nice views, gated
-Twin Oaks Valley Ranch (Pebble Beach Drive): Nice homes, well kept
-Varadero (Camino del Arroyo): Awesome sweeping views! Tiny lots, mostly old folks
-Victoria Ranch (Victoria Way): 1 acre lots, huge homes, gated
-Walnut Hill (Silver Shadow Drive): well established, nice layout, country feel
-Williamsburg (Rose Arbor Dr): Gated and always feels claustrophobic to me. Little privacy. Now, if you don’t mind older homes here are some areas that always intrigue me:
-Coronado Hills (Washingtonia Drive): Awesome views, high fire danger, only one way in/out
-San Marcos Farms (Birchwood Dr): larger lots, quiet, private. I’ve watched this area for years – very little goes up for sale.I’ve never been a big fan of SEH, probably because I don’t understand the draw and I think it gets waaay too much attention already.
svelteParticipantCongrats man! Everybody’s idea of the perfect home is different – glad you found yours!
svelteParticipantSM guy here.
Funny, I was just talking with one of my neighbors about this the other day.
My take is that it can be attributed to a combination of four things:
1. Age: SFH is the oldest of the “new” (ie master planned) communities in San Marcos. Well SFH and Discovery Hills both, anyway.
2. Space: SFH is a little more claustrophobic than other SM areas for some reason. The streets are wide enough, but in some places the homes feel closer together.
3. HOA: I think that SFH is the only new community in SFH without an HOA. I know there are a lot of folks on here that hate HOAs, but they do tend to result in better-kept communities…which leads to the fourth reason:
4. Condition: SFH just feels a little more run down that the other new developments. Probably due to the age and lack of HOA, but it definitely does. Walk through there one weekday evening and you’ll notice the garage doors, yards, driveways just aren’t as nice. And you’ll also notice the streets are just lined with cars in the evening!
I don’t think the proximity to Vista plays into it at all.
Don’t get me wrong, we have friends who live there and it’s a fine place to live.
But there is definitely a difference.
svelteParticipantMeanwhile, the Antarctic ice continues to grow!
And low and behold, the Global Warmers site that as further evidence of their theory. WTF?
It all reminds me of Crack Babies.
Remember when the media couldn’t shut up about the crack epidemic in the early 1980s and said we were about to be overrun with crack babies so screwed up that the future of civilization was in peril?
Funny how that turned out to be a mirage.
Now we have a new “The End Is Near” banner to wave. I just wished folks would quit using “Global Warming” and “Man-induced Climate Change” interchangeably. They are not one and the same.
Can’t wait to see what “The End Is Near” scare is next…
svelteParticipant
Some lame reasoning not to move so far:
“Have a nice day”
“Friends want to move back, but can’t”- (actually this is good reason to move-it proves it is too expensive in the first place)
I’ve remained quiet on your move to Texas so as not to rain on your parade, but since you’ve seen fit to insult fellow posters I’ll change that rule.
Texas sucks. I know. I’ve lived there.
Hotter than hell, humidity that forced me to take 2 showers a day, the stench of slaughterhouses and cow shit everywhere, dozens or hundreds of miles between any two places you want to go, and bible-thumping self-righteous nosy do-gooders in every other house.
Like you, my first year there was enjoyable. It was something new and novel. It was fun meeting new people, new customs, and loved that Texas drawl on the females.
But all that wore off within two years and I wanted out. It took several more years to make that a reality, but I eventually was able to sling myself into Northern Calif where I met my beautiful wife and the rest, as they say, is history. Steve Miller was right: the girls are indeed warm in Northern California.
svelteParticipantWell what a surprise.

svelteParticipantLegalize MJ already.
We’ve got much bigger things to spend our collective energy thinking about…
svelteParticipant
the apple watch is not for me.
Yeah. Suddenly, it’s 1979 again.
I remember sitting in a college class in 1979 playing with my boffo digital watch that did everything under the sun. It even had a calculator function.
Buttons everywhere.
Two years later, they were old news and looked so yesterday.
I predict the same fate, 35 years later, for the iWatch (sounds kinda kinky) that does everything under the sun.
