ParticipantWhat does two regulations for every one even mean? How do you weigh regulations for effect? Will things like instituting more warrantless internal immigration checkpoints count as regulations?
I don’t see Trump removing regulations. I see him regulating more in different areas to favor his favored groups in society. Cops, native born Americans, and big business.
Oh, and how do we spend more money on military pork and infrastructure whilst lowering taxes and auditing the Fed? Issue more bonds? Should be an interesting look on his face when he sees rates go up.
Here’s the other irony: His base was largely rural and red states. The kind of industry that he favors (coal, fracking, etc) tends to end up in rural and semirural areas anyway. The states that favored him have the laxest environmental regulations. How would his supporters feel when they have no clean water to drink and get cancer from air pollution?

ParticipantRally is an over-reaction to the election, just like the 750+ point drop in futures on the night of Nov 8-9 was. At least interest rates are going up — hopefully we’ll have some fun when ARMs start resetting.

Participantbearishgurl: I think 6-cyl Outbacks used a 5EAT (5-speed electronic) transmission till at least 2014.

ParticipantWhy not get one of the last 6-cyl Subarus with the 4EAT/5EAT automatic used, if you’re so dead-set on avoiding a 4-banger?

ParticipantIt would be fun to covertly rebadge some American cars at a UAW conclave and place a hidden camera. Magnetic Japanese car badges that fit over Ford or Chebby badges.

ParticipantI’d have to side with flu on that one. You’re creating resale value when you buy used. Resale value is part of the reason why the company can sell the new car at near the MSRP to begin with.
The previous owner is essentially just a middleman between the dealer/company and you.

ParticipantI was also talking about parts content, not just assembly location.

ParticipantDon’t some of the Toyota/Lexus vehicles sold in the US actually have more North American parts content than “US brand” cars?

ParticipantNot a fan of Adidas as far as them actually fitting my feet.

ParticipantI used to buy New Balance — they fit my wide feet well. I think I paid closer to $70 or $80 than $200 for “made in USA” shoes. Discount chains (Kohls, Marshalls) frequently had them marked down quite a lot.
Not sure if I’ll buy another pair now that neo-nazi boneheads have adopted the brand. 🙁 This is separate from the company supporting Trump:

ParticipantThis works to a point, but there need to be regulations that all states follow. First, states need to be held to the Constitution — no discrimination or police over-reach should be permitted by the Feds. Second, environmental laws are damned important. It wouldn’t work if one state pollutes another state’s main source of drinking water, for example.
DC needs to be strong in some respects to protect peoples’ rights in all states.

Participantflu: has the state/county considered electrification and improvements on the coast rail like from San Diego to points north? Seems like Carlsbad-Irvine would be a good commute by transit if the workplace was within a mile or so of the station.

Participantflyer: that’s good that population growth is only 0.1% per year.
The fact that population would be shrinking without immigration is typical for many coastal places. NY and NJ are the same way, I think.
