Looks like they’re moving from a physical auction to an online auction on a third-party service.

ParticipantThat seems low — means a 500-ish SF 1 bedroom would only get a grand a month?
How does it differ between unit types — are rents per SF on 1 bedrooms higher than larger units?

ParticipantMeh. Get back to me when they make an electric two-wheeler. You can’t lane-split in a 3-wheeler. And the safety cage is just dorky.

ParticipantMaybe homes and cars are just not my priority, I don’t know.
Agree with your example of good food, but my needs in a home are pretty minimal.

ParticipantMeh.
I grew up in a house that wasn’t plumbed for hot water on the upper floors.
The bedrooms got a sink in the hall with a single cold tap and a closet with a “water closet.” Actually, no heat upstairs either, just grills in the floor for heat to rise. This was in the US, BTW.
The separate taps in British houses are more a matter of style, since they’re easily converted to a single faucet. The plumbing for hot water is generally there.
What is more common in Continental Europe are instant water heaters. One in the kitchen, one for the bath. It’s lovely to always have hot water available, not run out half way through a shower as the tank gets cold!

ParticipantGet into a trade war with China, and we’ll likely be seeing inflation in imported goods like appliances and clothing 🙂 Personally, much as I dislike Trump, I actually LOVE the idea of him shooting his fat yappah off and provoking a tariff war with China.
From an environmental/e-waste standpoint, it would be nice to see people not buy unnecessary electronics and throw easily fixed items away. Also, it would be an incentive to design for durability and repairability vs planned obsolescence.
Same goes for clothing — people buy stuff, keep it for a month, the toss it or throw it in the back of their closet. It’s not even recyclable — best use for it is to shred it and covert it into insulation or make it into shop rags.
If a trade war provokes an economic crisis that temporarily knocks down housing, so much the more entertaining. Yes, housing will increase in the long run, but a few bumps in the road would be good entertainment.
Good article about fast fashion and “cheap” clothing…

ParticipantSure, but then it won’t be populated by Russians 🙂

ParticipantRents depend on what happens with…
(a) the economy. We’re coming due for a recession, 7.5 years since the last one ended
(b) immigration. A significant percentage of San Diego’s population (5-7%) is in the US illegally. Will the Orange Haired Clown make life difficult for undocumented workers? To what extent?Under 3 people per household isn’t particularly dense, and during a slowdown, people tend to double up and share housing.
Also, rents are outpacing incomes. If borrowing rates go up for other things like car loans, credit cards, etc, where’s the money going to come from?
http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/business/real-estate/sd-fi-cost-burden-20161216-story.htmlIt’s always different, until it isn’t.

ParticipantUni Heights isn’t so-so, it’s just urban.
So-so would be further east of 92116/103.

ParticipantNot individual items but they do show categories as even run cash flow analysis.
Categories are by merchant type.
i.e.
Bed & Bath = home goods, even if you buy a Snickers bar
Safeway = groceries, even if you buy light bulbs
Staples = office supplies, even if you buy a laptop for yourselfIt’s not as smart of a system as you think. If you order from Amazon, they have no idea if you’re ordering travel mags or LSAT review books.

ParticipantFor instance, if I was thinking about cash advancing all my cards to leave the country, they would probably notice my purchasing history (travel magazines, fodor guidebooks) and put a stop on that in a matter of seconds.
Merchant data sent to the CC company doesn’t generally show individual items purchased.
