Participant20% APR what? I pay 10% on one card and they just offered me 0% cash (OK, with a 2% transaction fee) for 13 months.

ParticipantBut still, if I was doing something stupid or ignorant, I’d sure appreciate someone pointing it out.
I’d rather keep it to myself unless the person was a close friend or family.. More failure for stupid people = more success for me. F’em.

ParticipantLife expectancy with HIV is still a few decades below non-infected people, even with the best of treatments. Part of the problem is that the drugs eventually kill the patient. Hopefully, there will be advances in immunotherapy that will “train” the body to fight things like AIDS and cancer on its own — basically figure out why some people already spontaneously recover.

ParticipantI’ve made bad choices before. I still laugh at the people who made WORSE choices.

ParticipantFeel free to laugh until you make your first bad choice.
I’m actually relatively conservative money-wise, and have made good choices thus far.

ParticipantIf the dumbfucks wipe themselves out in the stock market, go BK, and ruin their credit, there will be more opportunities for calculating vultures like us. They should be applauded, not execrated.

ParticipantBearishgurl is right (as she often is) — type II diabetes has the pancreas working fine, but the body is unable to respond to insulin. Often caused by obesity and possibly by exposure to chemicals/toxins in what passes for “food” these days.

ParticipantSKANKSDALE! I love the smell of hair bleach in the morning!

ParticipantIf I were a lawyer, I’d ask for a renaming of the LAPD as part of the settlement. LAID (LA Idiocy Department) would work for me.

ParticipantStrangely, the stuff that you describe as being at the “top” of the caste system, is the kind of stuff that tops my do-not-want list. I’d rather have a bungalow or condo in one of the beach cities than a 3500 sf monster further inland.

ParticipantBTW, I actually wasn’t arguing for sitting, since the rent metric works pretty well almost anywhere in the US right now. I’m not looking to make a fuckton of money, actually. Just for $50-60k/yr from property investments, so I have enough excess annual income to be left alone, and not ever be beholden to some PoS of a boss at a full-time job.

Participant50% off is unlikely. Deflation is possible — remember that in 2005-6, everyone was yammering that “property values will never decrease, buy while you can get in.”
However, the relevant metric is RENTS. If you can lock in a good rate and rent to some poor sap for significantly more than expenses, then you’re golden.

ParticipantFlorida is on the East Coast last I checked. Nothing wrong with getting away for a few days, but I’m in NYC by choice. Not because anyone forced me to live here 🙂

ParticipantThe few times I’ve been in Chicago, the place has left me cold and feeling bleak. It probably didn’t help that it was windy, raining, and dreary basically all of the time I was there — so maybe spending a week there when it’s sunny in summer would change my view.
