ParticipantKids can move. It’s good for them not to be tied to one place like potted plants.

ParticipantDesmond: lighten up, man, have a sense of humour.
The-Shoveler: why sell one’s old place when moving vs keeping it as a rental? If you like a town, going back there once in a while isn’t much trouble.spdrun
ParticipantIf you’re comfortable in L.A., why move? As long as you get paid enough to live comfortably, “career growth” is an overrated concept, unless you’re growing your OWN business or doing something genuinely good for mankind.
It’s used to keep cattle moving to suboptimal situations with the dogs biting at their heels. Imagine cows ganging up, refusing to move, and kicking the cowboys in the junque…
If one were to move for work, they should do so to a place that’s genuinely interesting. Parts of Europe or Latin America come to mind, not humid-lanta.

ParticipantIf they’re competent to go so, who gives a aerial wank what the nanny state says? Talk about retarded bureaucracy run amuck. Liability? Who’s suing whom?
If you’re paranoid, just have them buy 10% extra tile so you can fix it if anything cracks in future.
I see it’s an issue in CA, but in NJ and NY, no such thing is needed. When my family needed a bathroom floor redone, I hired a friend’s brother who started a tiling business out of high school. He did fine.

ParticipantYeah, like I need another piece of spyware in my life, snitching back to the parasites in my insurance company. F’that.

ParticipantBut crimes and abuses committed by law enforcement stand apart in the level of viciousness. Race doesn’t even figure.
It’s not a question of viciousness. It’s a question that:
(a) police swore an oath to uphold the law, not break it.
(b) responsibility must come with powerUncalled-for violence by law enforcement should therefore be punished more severely than the same level of violence by “civilians.”

ParticipantTheir pensions should be capped at their salary upon retirement, adjusted for inflation. I might feel sorry for teachers and firefighters, a bit. Cops. Nah, not really.

ParticipantYes, we are improving our standard of living with more material. Think of those housewives of the past slaving away to do their 5 kids’ laundry!
Actually, from a material standpoint, two dishwashers aren’t really “more.” Dishwashers last less time than a house. Two dishwashers used alternatively are likely to last 1.5 to 2x as long, assuming rubber gaskets, etc can still be replaced.

ParticipantWhy worry? If rates reset and we end up with a lot of short sales slamming prices down, it will be an opportunity to pick up cheap(er) r.e. before the gov steps in again and kicks the can further down the road.

ParticipantAll houses should be equipped with 2 dishwashers so you can move the daily dishes from 1 machine to the next.
Buy your next house from an Orthodox Jewish family, and it may come so equipped. Probably with two drawer type dishwashers to separate meat and dairy dishes.

ParticipantIsn’t building a battery factory in the US (vs China) a good thing?

ParticipantThe Lotus cars are also mid/rear, so no driveshaft or conventional transmission. Might make it easier to keep weight down.

ParticipantProblem is that if it has 280 HP and has to be warranted, it won’t be 2300 lb, since the brakes, drivetrain, and chassis will have to be porked up to handle the extra power/tq.

Participant2200 lb. Low beltline (at least by current nanny standards). I’ll take one or two, please.
I want a car, not a safety box or overpowered rocket sled, and this is it.
This being said, it has a big-a$$ screen in the middle of the dash. No DIN or dual-DIN slot. Yuck. I want a car, not a rolling cum-pootah.
