my dad never owned a place and he did ok.
My father and mother were renter for the first 8 years of their marriage, then they bought a house. As a kid I never noticed any difference. I think our society place so much negative stigma for not owning your house.

The questions line up like:
1. Is owning better than renting?
Question #1 is so open ended its not even funny…You will need to put that with a bit of context. Let me ask this question, Is Married better than single?.
The answer for the question is “DEPENDS”. Depends on do you have kids? are you planning to relocate? what is the condition of your rental? If you are married, does your wife wants to buy? etc etc?
Get a decent rental place if you have to, life is too short. While you have to concern about the price of the house you buy, a house should never be an investment. Personally I am in the process of buying, because after waiting for 2 years Morgan Hill-Temecula did not go to $75/sqft so I settled because the PITI+HOA+MelloRoos is about $200/month over renting. Sorry I lost it, I just feel bad about you living on the boat….snailParticipant
Since I’m ranting about the gophers, I’ve tried everything and have not caught a single one, they have a logistical advantage as there is a fenced in, multi acre hoa owned hillside desending down from right behind my place so I cannot bring in a predator or flush them out with water. I’m convinced they eat the poison pellets as an appetizer, they trigger the traps without getting stuck in them, I am just going to give up. Can you buy gopher snakes and just release them into the holes? Since you are fearful of zombies, you can have my gophers because zombies are no match for my gophers.
I tried everything including staking them out with BB gun (should have used the 22), this is the only thing that work for me….

in 5 years, 90% of the new car will have this feature. Currently most of advanced tactical fighter have fly by wire system. Toyota is not the only company that been placing this technology on their car. Its just like ABS brake system, most new car have them.
