Participant
Casca, I don’t agree with this. You didn’t not take anything from me or make me tired. One of the terrible things about cliques or apparent cliques is that when the “outsider” leaves it seems clear that they harbor ill will, fundamental feelings of superiority or complete rejection for the person. I can see where you might feel “ganged up on”, including by me. Overall that isn’t the intent. It got sloppy. Best wishes to you.
Would someone please say “get a life Rustico”?
You are far too kind to someone who gets their kicks out of mixing it up. There is no “clique” here–we all have our opinions and points of view. His is extreme and he’s not willing to discuss things rationally–he just likes to engage in verbal warfare, or at least fisticuffs. Then he ducks out when he’s sufficiently annoyed and insulted everyone for his own enjoyment (but still hasn’t proven his point or persuaded anyone).
Others here are rational, decent people who enjoy discussing current events (and perhaps how they tangentially relate to housing?). The discussion is better off for his absence. Good riddance.
“Quote” is right next to “Reply.”
And I’ll say it: Get a life, Rustico.

Participant
What a tedious clique. It’s OK. I’m happy that two hinterland kooks have found love. I will make a couple of final comments though.
For Mr. Been-There-Done-That, most vets guard the privacy of their experience, because all of our experiences are unique. However there is that soul who longs for recognition. I know a fellow who is a cook in the CNG, but claims to have been an SF type in Iraq. Since he stands about 5’2″, his story lacks verisimilitude.
It’s fairly well known that those who have a story to tell, won’t. Who would you tell it to? Someone with no frame of reference who couldn’t possibly understand, or someone who has their own experiences, and doesn’t really care to relive yours? Conversely, those who must always tell their story are suspect.
If I am enigmatic, it is because I know who I am, and I know who you are too.
The man has issues about issues he doesn’t even know he has! And I bet the closet door is firmly shut!

Participant
His reference to my military background being “thin” when I spent three straight years doing counterinsurgency work also shows a lack of depth.
I have noticed that those who have served–in any capacity–have the utmost respect for their brethren who have also been there. (A lot of us civvies do, too, although we certainly can’t know what servicemen/women have faced in the same way.) It is degrading and disrespectful for Casca to belittle anyone else’s service or sacrifice, which supports the suspicion we all have that he is a poser.
And sorry, what is PTSD? (Can never figure out the military acronyms…)
