Actually Scots are British subjects. Scottish people are not English, but they are British. Great Britain comprises England, Wales and Scotland; the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland adds Northern Ireland as well. UK citizens can properly be called “British” as well as “English”, “Scottish”, “Welsh”, or “Irish”, depending on their heritage. This is similar to how a Texan is also an American.
Northern Ireland[/quote
Thanks Concho- I learned something new today. I knew Scots and others were not “English” but I didn’t realize or just never thought about that they are united as British, hence the British Isles. Thanks!

ParticipantThink of all the real estate agents, loan officers and all other players in RE that were making a huge killing during the boom. I know quite a few that bought McMansions and quite a few that haven’t paid their mortgage in a few months. There were a lot of people that got rich quick, over mortgaged themselves…we all know the story. Yep, I think there is still more to come.

ParticipantWow! I completely forgot about Pearl. I don’t remember Dixie Beer or Rebel Yell at all- had to Google it and still don’t remember it.
Do love the BBQ and the little road side stands on the side of the road. BBQ stands and tamale stands. Don’t know if the Health Dept had any jurisdiction, but it sure tasted good. Heck, I wonder if they even exist any more?
I’m also from Houston and then we moved to a little town called Montgomery about a mile north. Love that we had a rodeo team and you could bring your shotgun in your truck at school as long as it was visible on the rack. I think it was like that until I was a Freshman. It was never a political statement- it was just a way of life and a lot of the boys got up early to work on local farms and ranches. Tell your wife a fellow Houston transplant sends their best. Does she miss thunderstorms as much as I?

ParticipantHah! Actually I never liked Shiner; more of a Lone Star girl. Nahhh no superiority I like Old Style too; got lots of friends from Chicago. Natural Light got me through college; though i will never touch it again! My fave is Michelob, Bohemia and Modelo Negro.
We do love our semi automatic guns with lots of open land- cans and clay
http://www.hunter-ed.com/tx/course/ch2_actions_semiautomatic.htmIts also hot out there even in the winter so bikinis could be optional though you’d be covered with an orange safety vest:

I was jesting about shredding the deer, because then you’d get that nasty gamey taste; not good- what a waste of good meat.
I do believe time and again- Texas girls are beautiful. All my friends back home where getting nips and tucks when they were 18. Hmmm…oddly similar to the SoCal girl just more make up.
